My Lo's won't eat the "baby" cereal anymore. My DS is pretty much eating small peices of food. I would like to still give them some sort of cereal in the mornings. Does anyone feed their Lo's regular hot cereals, like oatmeal or cream of wheat?

Any suggestions for breakfast, I feel like they eat the same things everyday.

Yes, I give mine oatmeal or grits. I also give mine toast, waffles, pancakes, eggs...but I don't think I was giving them all those things at 8 months old.

I feel like an idiot feeding rice cereal to my boys at this age, but it's just a vehicle to get more formula in them. If I didn't do that, I'd probably give them regular oatmeal sweetened with a bit of brown sugar.

I started trying my boys on pancakes and such at 8 months, but they weren't ready. They just spat it out. I continued with baby oatmeal mixed with formula, and add some margarine and a pinch of brown sugar to make it yummy. I also mix organic whole milk yogurt with fruit (and sometimes add avocado for good fats) and give it for breakfast. I think I started them with yogurt at 7 months. They looooove it!

You could also scramble egg yolks mixed with BM/formula. My guys didn't like it, but your LO's might.

Yes, we did switch to regular oatmeal when they got a bit older. Mostly we did cereals & pieces of fruit for breakfast at that age. I know it always seemed boring, but they hadn't had eggs yet, which ruled out so many things!

yeah, cereal is not our favorite around here either anymore... i have tried cream of wheat, but it doesn't really taste much better unless you add lots of butter and brown sugar

we mostly do pancakes, yogurt, and waffles

I usually add the cereal to the fruits or veggies that they are eating to give them a thicker consistency so that the food doesn't fall off too easily. I haven't given mine straight cereal since we started fruits and veggies.

Mine didn't like the rice cereal after a couple months of having it. We've been giving them baby oatmeal instead and to make it not so plain I add applesauce [and cinnamon] or yogurt to it. I also give mine toast [with a little jam, butter, or cheese] and pancakes just to switch things up a little.

Thanks for the suggestions! We will try some regular cereal tomorrow. My Ds will eat anything I put in front of him, just not baby cereal.

If you are concerned at all about the nutrition value of other cereals, you can always mix in a bit of formula to add extra nutrition.
