Cereal in Bottles

I am wanting to add cereal to the twins bottles. What I was wondering is how much cereal do you add? My son drinks a full 8 oz bottle and my daughtrer drinks a 6-7 oz.

 

Why are you wanting to do this? It is typically not a good idea unless your Pedi recommends it. Usually this is only done for babies with reflux.

 

I agree with Beth. It is only recommended to put cereal in bottles for reflux. If you think they are ready to eat cereal (sounds like they might be), go ahead and let them have with a spoon. How old are your babies?

 

Ditto PP's! My parents tried giving us cereal too early (my sister & I) and it really backfired. Are you having reflux issues? Talk to your ped.

eta: Looks like your twins are about 12 weeks old now. Still too early for solids according to most doctors. I believe there is an allergy risk and most infants aren't ready at this time for using a spoon.

 

Actually my little boy has already started cereal. It was either 12 oz bottles at every feeding or add in food. The pediatrician said to go ahead with food. He was definitely ready and has had no problems whatsoever. He does not have a relux problem but his pediatrician recommended putting cereal in a couple of his bottles since he is not eating solids at every meal. She felt that it would fill him up.

 

We did 2 tsp. per oz. for reflux. We started at a 1/2 tsp. per oz.

Sounds like your boy is a hungry one.

Mine was doing 8oz. bottles at 2 months with cereal. A great eater.
