Anyone know of any carseat that you can REAR face past 35-40lbs? Can you buy them overseas since in other contries they require children to be rear facing for longer?

I've only found 2 that go up to 40 lbs. Graco my ride 65 (first on market in US that went over 35 lbs) and another brand that I saw in a babies r us ad but I can't remember what it was.

I am also interested in finding a car seat that will keep the babies rear facing as long as possible due to the new recommendations. Although from what I've read 40 pounds should last past the 2nd year.

Well just to give you an idea about babies and weights, my boys are 2 years and 8 months and in the 75% for weight and only weigh about 33 pounds. So a weight limit of 35# can get you well into the second year if you want to do that. We have both the Evenflo Triumph Advance and the Britax Marathons and both do the rear facing of 35#.

My boys have always been on the low end of the weight scale and will be 2 in 2 weeks. I doubt they are even 25lbs yet. I plan on keeping mine rear facing until they don't want to do it anymore (or they his 35lbs, but at this rate they will be 4!).

There are rumors that the Sunshine Radian XT will be rated for up to 45 pounds later this year.

Thanks so much I just did some research on it and called the company on friday, but they were closed. I am going to give them a call on Tuesday when they open back up again. Thanks!

My two are 3 in a couple of weeks & we are still below 35 pounds, and they are considered big for their age.

My daughter was 30 lbs at age 2, she just turned 3 yesterday and she's been in the 90+% since birth (9lbs 12 oz). So I'm sure a 35/40 lb weight limit will rear face past 2 yrs for most kids.

I'm debating on this new carseat that came out this summer... available only from BabiesRUs.

The Safety 1st® Complete Air™ Convertible Car Seat with Air Protect™ Side Impact Technology is perfect for infants rear-facing from 5-40 lbs. and 19"-40" and toddlers forward-facing from 22-50 lbs. and 34"-45". $250.

I haven't seen anything that goes above that in the U.S.
