Our girls are getting so tall. Just wondering when you quit using the infant carriers?

We're buying a minivan from my BIL so ideally when we get it... so I can have the seats inspected at the police station before switching them. I'm not 100% sure that DS won't have outgrown it by then though... not too sure when they're getting their new car, so it's a bit annoying. I don't really want to have to install the seats twice... So I'll just keep an eye on his weight, and when he reaches 20lb, I'll switch both (the max for the carseat is 22). He was 17lb 2 weeks ago so we're getting close... he already has to bend his legs too... but the limit is 29" and he was 26.5 last time. We're close!

My boys just turned 9 mths and we will stop using them this coming weekend. We have kept them in for as long as possible because it's just so much more convenient for me. They are hitting the height restriction though (and are getting pretty close on weight too).

We were able to use them until about a week before their first birthday. They never exceeded the weight or height limit of the seat, but they were pretty heavy those last couple of months.

I think around 7 months they were both over 20 pounds so we had to go to the convertibles.

I'm getting ready to make the switch, though I kind of dread it. The infant carriers are so convenient! I don't know how it's going to be getting everyone in and out of the car without them. It'll be kind of nice to look back in the rearview mirror and see 2 additional smiling faces! :)

We made the switch when DD started hating to sit so inclined and DS seems to be "too big" but they had a good 5 pounds left on the seats. We are glad we made the switch - they seem much happier. We have Britax Marathons. Long story but we also have evenflo triumphs. The Britax are WAY better for the babies and for us to get them in/out of. I'd spend the extra $$ on Britax roundabouts or marathons if you car is big enough. SUPER nice. The only down side to the britax is as they get bigger you have to rethread the whole strap to make it taller but really that isn't that often.

I was looking into getting those carseat covers for when it gets colder, thinking my babies aren't even 6 mos old yet. This post made me decide to weigh and measure my daughter (of course not very accurate on my digital scale with me)...But I think she's about 27.5 - 28 inches and 19-20 lbs...now I hope she makes it to her 6 mo ckup so I can talk to the doctor about switching. Seems way too early to be done with the carriers...I did notice yesterday that their feet hang off and they are soo freaken heavy! We didn't even use the two carseat bases we have in my husband's car! Guess I won't be carseat cover shopping afterall...

I think it was about 7 months for us ... Jake was 20.12 at 6 months, and our car seats (Graco Snugrides) only went up to 22lbs and 29 inces ... and he was close on both ... so we got the convertible car seats then ... Hailey was still a peanut and could have stayed in it ... but I wanted to switch them together ...

I thought I was going to hate the new car seats ...but we love our convertibles ... and the kids are cozy in them ... Jake is so damn tall, we just turned our seats to be front facing ... I didn't want to do it yet ... but they LOVE facing forward!

We just moved over to the convertible carseats because DS is over 29 inches (which is the height limit for our infant carriers).

With DS#1 we didn't switch until he was 11 months. He just barely weighed 20 lbs then. (New parents way to eager for him to grow up) With the twins it will probably be at least that long. Especially Ellie she is only 10lb5oz at 5 months. Will possibly won't make it until the year mark but we'll see. I will be sad when we switch. It's too convient to have them.

I think my girls were about 13 months when they finally exceeded the weight and height requirements.

We have the Chicco SIP 30/30s, so we're using them until the bitter end - I can't imagine life without the snap-n-go! :)

Not sure what the babies weigh now, or how tall they are...suppose I should measure them. I imagine we'll get to the 30 in. height restriction far before we reach the weight limit. Babies are nearly 8 months, so I'm hoping for at least 12.

We have the Chicco's where the limit is 30lbs and 30", we are at 29" so I am afraid we are at the end. The Britax sale starts on the 15th so I am holding off a few more days....then we will take the plunge$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!

Ainsley hit the height limit at 6.5 months and I went ahead and switched Sierra at 7 months. They were nowhere near the weight limit yet.

Dax hit the height limit at 4 months old.

The twins were in until 9 months old. They were small babies (just hitting 19 and 20 lbs. at a year) but grew out length wise at 9 months...plus, it was too much for me to carry around.

We took Olivia out around 5 months...she's now 6 months old and around 20 lbs.

We will be switching in about a week (my boys turned 8 months old today). I have a 2 coupons for 20% off any item at BRU, and it starts on the 19th. AJ is very close on height and weight limits for his infant seat, but Benny has time still; but I want to switch them together. I will miss the convenience of the infant seats, though! It is so nice to just be able to snatch the seats to run DD into preschool.

My singleton was in her infant seat until 14 months (when she finally hit 20 lbs) - per direction of our local fire station/carseat authority.

We switched around 10 months. They weren't close to the height or weight limit yet, but they were getting so heavy to carry in the carrier.
