My son is a bit of a chunk and when I put him in his carsear his shoulders seem to be pushing down- depends if he's wearing something more bulky. We need to get the car seats that stay in the car (not sure what its called) and would love some opinions about what you use and the negatives/positives. Of course money is an issue and of course safety. We are buying them at Baby's R US.

Any opinions/advice? We have a minivan and a Suzuki Grand Vitara. The mininvan is very roomy (obviously) but the Suzuki is a but tight.

After the infant seats we got the Evenflo Triumph Advance. We have a minivan and they fit well in it and they were easy to install, the straps are easy to adjust. We are pretty happy with them. Good luck on deciding which ones you want!

We have Britax Marathons and love them! Our older DS still rides in a Marathon and he's almost 5 and still has plenty of room!

    Good luck with your decision!

Edited: They are expensive, but they last quite a long time for most kids.

Love, love, love the Britax! It is worth the price. Get the Marathon though if your son is big. We got the Roundabout and my son outgrew it when he was 3 so I got another seat (I think it was a Graco) that went from a 5 pt harness carseat to a high-back booster....and quickly realized how wonderful the Britax was. I have flown 4 or 5 times with the Britax and it was fairly easy to travel with and install on the airplanes (I have installed it both rear facing and forward facing on airplanes). It is much easier to install than other carseats. When our girls outgrow their infant carriers, we are purchasing another Britax to use along side the one we had with our son. Our girls tend to be smaller, but we will probably go with the Marathon to keep them in it longer. Both the Marathon and the Roundabout will rear face and forward face.

A little on the expensive side but Britax rules!!! The twins grew out of infant carriers at 4 months - now I wish I never bought them!!! They've been in the Britax since then.

We have 2 britax boulevards....expensive but worth it. A lot of times you can find britax car seats on sale at places like www.diapers.com or www.albeebaby.com

We got the Evenflo Triumph Advanced LX for Evan (goes up to 55 lbs) and I LOVE IT!!! We paied just over $100 for it on sale. Wish we would have gotten it for the twins. But, at that time, I figured 40 lbs was fine for a booster seat. Now that they are approaching it, I see them and am definitely re-thinking that.

Another vote for Marathons. My twins are still so comfortable in theirs. :good:

We just bought and installed Britax boulevards too. We found a certified reseller on eBay (check the Britax website for the official list). We saved money that way because it was from out of state so we avoided the California sales tax of 10%! and no shipping costs. GL :)

BRUS has a car seat sale right now with 15% savings and another mother of twins told me that you can use the "twin discount" on top of that. That means that if you buy 2 of the same product (over $100 each) you save 10%. This is a chance to get seats for 25% off if the information I got was correct. The sale is from May 8-May28.

I like my marathon too, but mostly because my dd is very tall and I needed the extra height that the straps on britax gives. Otherwise, I love the graco comfortsport we had for her (she outgrew it at age 2.5 tho). We're planning to use her marathon and purchase one more when the twins outgrow their infant seats.
