carseat or stroller for air traveling

I will be traveling internationally with twins when they'll turn 12 months in July. I called airlines and they told me that at that age baby does not need to be in the car seat, ones can sit in the regular plane seat. I will be flying alone with twins and trying to figure out my options:

-double stroller,I check it at the gate and then use it in the airports; one baby will sit on my laps and the other in the plane seat.

-carry one baby in carrier(tried once when they were 4 month old, they did not like it, did not try again since), take one car seat and use Go Go travel mate for the other one.And check in my 1 car seat and double stroller.

If anyone has suggestions, personal experience, please share with me.

Since it's an international flight, and will most likely be a long one, I think I would bring one car seat on the plane with you so you have a safe place to put one baby while holding the other. I have flown (not internationally) with my two at 15 months and 2.5 years and if I had been alone, I would definitely have brought at least one seat with me to put them in.

I think you are going to want that carseat on the plane for the baby that is not sitting in your lap. So, I think this is your best option...

Baby in carrier on front, backpack with stuff, pulling baby in gogo carseat. I'm tired just thinking about it. But yes, I think that is your best bet!

If I were you, I would get seats for both of them with their car seats. Will they still fit in their infant seats? This would be the easiest since you could use a double sng that you can gate check and then have them both in their car seats for the flight.

I've flown with my girls several times and the hardest was when they were 14 months old. They wanted to get down and roam around and didn't understand why I wouldn't let them. I have my DH with me and they were both lap babies. I can't imagine keeping one in the seat with only that little airplane seat belt to keep them in. They'll figure that out in no time.

    GL!!!

I traveled with my boys at 11 months. I would take the double stroller through the airport and check it at the gate. I would take one car seat on the plane for you so that you can strap one in if you need a second where you cant watch 2 babies at the same time. If its a really long flight, I would get 2 seats for the twins if you can and take a car seat for each that way when they nap, you can have some free time with your own arms. GL!

I've never flown alone with my boys, but we (DP & I) did fly with them at 13 months. We used the GoGo Baby Car Seat rollers and they worked pretty well.

I think I would use a Double Snap N Go, and check the stroller part, if you can afford to get 3 tickets. I think it would be worth it.

    Best wishes to you!!

    Thank you all for suggestions.
One more thing, it might be stupid question, but i need to ask. I am in process of buying convertible seats, since DS is 20 lbs, and DD is almost there. By 12 months they will definitely won;t feet in their infant seats. Do double snap and go fit convertible seats, that way I can use seas in the plane and snap'go in the airport.

The double snap n go doesn't fit convertible seats. You'll need a new double stroller. The two times I traveled by myself with the twins before 1 year old I put them in a double stroller, laid one carseat along the top of the stroller on the parent's tray, carried the other carseat in a backpack type carrier, and put our carryons in the bottom of the stroller. I load the plane I carried one baby in a baby carrier on front, carried the other kid on my hip, wore a diaper bag back-pack, gate-checked the stroller, and other passengers carried the two carseats. Both of my flights had two legs each way and I always had people volunteering to help us get on the plane so I didn't have any trouble.

    Wow.
I am having hard time imagining how you carried all those things.
I am not sure if they'll fit in infant carseat by 12 months.DS is already getting too big for it. I just don;t know how I could manage double stroller, 2 convertible seats, 2 babies and back pack?
It is making me rethink if it is doable.
