Before I go installing the car seats in our new minivan, any advice or thoughts on configurations that work best? We have a four year old and six month old twins. It is a 7 passenger Odyssey so normal back row and then the two captains seats in the middle.
    Thanks!

We have a 7 passenger Pontiac Montana with a similar configuration. I have a two year old and 5 month old twins. We have the twins in the back row, the two year old in a captain's seat in the second row, and we removed the other second row captain's seat to make the back row more easily accessible. This setup is working well for us.

I would put the infants in the middle where it is the safest. Put them next to each other (away from the sides as much as possible). I'd put your oldest in the back. It's cooler to ride in the back anyways! :winking:

We have the 3 year old in the back and the twins in the middle.
I couldn't imagine trying to get them in the back row when they are in the convertbile seats backward facing - it would be really hard, perhaps when we turn them around.
It works out well for us, my 3 year old certainly is loud enough for me to hear!!

We have a Sienna and we took the one of the Captains chairs and moved it to the center so there is a walkway on the side. I dont know if you can do this in the Odessey. But the boys are in the captains chairs and I have my 3 YO old in the center of the back on the 60 of the 60/40 split. That way I can still lay down the back seat if I need to without moving her carseat.

When they were still in their infant carriers, we had them both in the back row (we have a Town and Country) and my son was in the captains chair, and the other was folded down. When we got the convertibles we had the twins both in a captains chair, and then my son in the back. Well- it was too hard to get him in and out- not to mention picking up the things he would manage to drop. So we since put one girl in the convertible seat in the back, with my son next to her (so far, he is being good with this- then the other girl in the captains chair up front. The other chair is put away- and it makes a nice large area to get him and the girl in the back seat in. Not to mention a nice large way to reach back and give my son something he may be throwing a fit for! :p

We have a Honda Pilot. Both back rows hold three people (in theory - probably not adults). My boys ride in their infant carriers in the front row with my 5 year old daughter and my 9 year old son rides in back. My DD loves to "help" by keeping their blankets on and putting pacis where they belong!! She is the "big sis" The front seat only splits and moves forward, so I can't imagine getting in the back to get them out.....good luck. You'll find what's best.

I could have written the first part of this: Town and Country, singleton in captain's chair, other captain's chair stowed away, twins in infant seats in the back row. When we get our convertible seats next week, we planned to put the twins in the captains' chairs and singleton in the back row... but I may just be giving your idea a try!! Thanks!

We have a dodge grand caravan which has stow-n-go so we can fold a middle seat into the floor. We have our 22 mo. old in 1 of the middle row chairs and the girls who are 6 mo. in the back on the bench seat. We can climb up into the van to put the girls in, it is SOOOO convenient.
