I was wondering if anyone has advice on cars that will fit 3 car seats and still have a good amount of trunk/storage space. I have heard good things about the Honda Odessy but my husband isn't crazy about the idea of a minivan! We are also looking at the GMC Acadia.

    Thanks

I have a newish Dodge Durango-it isnt too big but three carseats will fit across the middle seats and it also had the 3rd row back seat-I am not a minivan person either.

I have a Toyota Sienna and love it. My twins are in the captain's chairs in the 2nd row and my oldest DD has the third row all to herself. It has tons of storage space and the power remote sliding doors are wonderful!! We went on vacation for a week and took the double stroller, 2 pack-n-plays, beach toys, umbrella, chairs, and luggage for all 5 of us and it all fit!

I have a Volvo XC90 and I am able to fit 3 across, 2 RF Marathons for the twins and 1 FF Radian for my oldest. Before I had 2 Snugrides and 1 FF Marathon, also fine.

I do not want a minivan and I want to drive a European brand (yes, me the European ;)!). Post the ages / sizes of your children and I may be able to recommend something. The Radian is a convertible (RF and FF) seat and it's very narrow, 17" wide. It has high top slots, about 18-19" which is higher than the Britax Marathon, same weight limit, 65 or even 80lbs, so great for taller children and/or to keep children harnassed until age 5-7 which is WAY safer than a booster. Radians make it very easy to fit 3 across in a lot of cars, although it has installation issues in Toyota / Lexus (I had no problem though). Although I love my Britaxes too, but they're bulky.

    HTH!

We just got a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan with Stow and Go seating. My oldest is in his convertible seat in the 2nd row in a captains chair. The other ca[tains we have stowed and the twins will be in the 3rd row

My daughter is 3 and is in a Britax Marathon now. We'll need 2 infant carseats once the twins arrive. My husband wants to get the Volvo but we didn't think there would be room. Do your kids hit each other a lot being 3 across in one seat?

    Kathy,

Hit? Well, not really, not yet ... at least, let's keep it that way. My oldest is behind the passenger seat in her Radian (which is much lower than the Britaxes), and the twins are side by side in their RF Marathons. It's a pretty tight fit, but it works because of the Radian. I think it would even work better if the Radian was in the middle, but then it would be hard for my oldest to get there, b/c the Marathons are also tethered. I'll probably do that when the babies start facing forward however I want to do extended rear facing (past 1 year and 20lbs) because it's simply safer.

Before I had one MA and 2 Snugrides side by side, that was easier than this (I used a base). I would get 2 more Radians once the twins grow out of their infant carriers. I wish I didn't buy the second MA but a Radian instead, that would have been a better and nicer fit. And it lasts even longer. With 2 Radians and a Marathon you should have no problem whatsoever in an XC90.

I am not sure about the size of your oldest but the top slots of the Radian are higher than the Marathon so you could decide to put her in a Radian and then put one of the twins in the Marathon you have and the other one in a Radian (made by Sunshine Kids in case you want to look it up, they're $199). Again, looking back I wouldn't try to fit 2 Marathons and a Radian, although it does fit and I don't hit the seats when closing the door but it's tight.

    HTH!

Thank you so much. I just checked out the Radians on line.
