    Hi there -

Looking for any advice on relief. I am a day shy of 24 weeks and have started experiencing a few discomforts. However, the worst is I am experiencing since last week is excruciating carpal tunnel in my right hand to my elbow. I have never had pain like this and I saw this is a common symptom. it is starting in my left hand now also. Acupuncture helps temporarily but when it comes on it is like my whole body it overcome by it. Has anyone experienced this and found a good option for relief. Icing helps somewhat but it is also painful. Does anyone know if this is something I can expect here on out?

    Thank you,
    Betsy

Look at walmart or a drugstore they sell wrist band things to help with carpal tunnel, buy at least one of those to try. When my wrists are bugging me I put mine on overnight and it definetly helps! My hubby got one for himself too!

Unfortunately it's probably going to keep on and possibly get worse, because it's the swelling in the tissues that is causing the pressure and carpal tunnel pain. It should go away after you have the babies and your water retention eases.

I had this as well. The things that worked for me were wearing wrist splints at night and icing my wrists. I'm sorry but it will probably continue on for the rest of your pregnancy. After I delivered my girls it got significantly better and by 7weeks post partum it was gone. Definitely mention it to your OB so she/he can monitor it.

I'm sorry to hear you have so much pain! I had carpal tunnel pre-pregnancy and acupuncture did wonders for me (as did icing and wearing splints). I hope you find relief!!

I too have horrible carpal tunnel with this pregnancy ..asked my doctor and he said go buy one of those bowling wrist guards..that bowlers wear to keep their wrists straight..he said to sleep with it on.. just saw him so I have not tried it yet..but it may be worth looking into.

    Hi kalish1671 -
I did get two of those - but not the real expensive ones. I went to the medical section of Walgreens and got the wrist/hand wraps that velcro. I also got permission from OB to use tiger balm, and that helped immensely - a little stinky but almost instant relief.
    Thanks! :)
