Has anyone else been experiencing pregnancy induced Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? My right hand feels like it falls asleep at times and when I wake up in the morning both hands are sore.
Anybody else dealing with this? Any tips for relief?

I had this with both of my pregnancies. The good news is that it went away within days of delivery. But I had it for months before - about 1/2 of my twin pg! You can get those wrist braces, those are supposed to help. I'm not sure what else, I think there are some exercises that can help too.

    Good luck!

    Hi!

I have carpal tunnel due to pregnancy....fun!! <_< Anyway, the only suggestion my doctor gave me was to use the wrist/arm brace thing. I found one at Walmart and wear it to bed at night. She also mentioned taking a Tylenol before bedtime to relax your arm and the "pins and needles" feeling you get when your arm goes to sleep. The Tylenol did work, but I don't take it every night. Also, it started in my left hand and is now in both. ughhhhhh!!

    Good Luck!

I had it with each pregnancy. It was the worst with the twins. And I hate to say, but it took me probably 3 months to go away. But maybe it was because it was a reoccuring thing for me? It's not fun, so I feel for you! :hug99:

Ditto pps...had it with the twins. Have it with this one. The only thing that helps some is to wear the wrist brace things but that doesn't do too much for me. It had resolved about 6 months after having the boys and has now returned.

I had it with my first pregnancy and this onr. I went and got two wrist splints and they are helping a lot. I would wake up at night with pain in both hands, almost to the point of tears. I also read that icing them a few times a day can help with the swelling, maybe doing it right before bed would help more. Good luck, I know it can hurt and be another sleep interruption we don't need!

I unfortunately had it prior to pg, but had not had any issues with it in years. The swelling from being pg with the twins, brought it on with a vengence. Go get a good wrist brace. Do not get one that has the plates along the sides of the brace. That will rub right across that area. Get one that has the plate under the wrist and hand. That holds your wrist where it needs to be. Wear it at night, and take Tylenol for the pain. The braces come in 6 and 8 inches. You may ask your OB to give you a prescription for one. Your insurance co. will cover them. You will have a lot less to pay for it, and you will be sure to get one that will work for sure. HTH and good luck.
