DD has been saying she feels sick in the car recently, and I used to be violently car sick as a kid.....has anyone had any experience with this? Any remedy suggestions? She'll be 3 in Oct, and they do watch dvd's in teh car so I was also thinking it might have something to do with that? TIA!

Oh yeah, Ashton has been getting car sick since she was about 18 months (well, that was our first long trip ;) ). We now give her 1/4 of a chewable Dramamine tablet about 1/2 hour to an hour before getting on the road. It is such a better trip for all!!! She has only been sick once since we started doing this and that was because I didn't give her another dose when we were driving 8 hours....I really thought she would make it that far. I was told by the dr to not give them dairy products before or during the trip and try to avoid greasy foods (hard to do on the road). Try fruits, water, and crackers, but nothing to heavy on her stomach. Good luck and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

What about Sea-bands? They are supposed to help with motion sickness, and I know they make them in kid's sizes. I don't get carsick but I used them for nausea when I was pregnant and they seemed to help. It's worth a shot if you are hesitant about giving her medication.

Oh that was me as a kid too! :( I feel for her, and I hope that like me someday when she is pregnant she doesn't feel like she does carsick for the first 20 weeks! UGH!

ANyhow, I couldn't really watch movies unless it was dark outside so I couldn't see the trees and such going by, and then only other thing that worked was to be able to have a good view out the front window. SO if I wasn't in the front seat, then I had to be in the middle second row and try to focus out the front. Hope that helps!

That's what I was going to suggest too. Maybe you could try story CDs to keep them amused instead of DVDs? Also ginger (you can buy it crystallized) is a good natural remedy to travel sickness, but she might be to young to want to eat it.
