I need to get the girls new car seats. They have long outgrown their infant carriers. They just don't even look comfortable. What do you have? Do yo like them? What is the best for the money?

We have 2 of the Evenflo Triumph Advance. The boys love them and they are very comfy looking. I got them at BRU with the twins discount and a coupon. Very reasonable.

We have the Cosco Alpha Omega Elites and really like them. They are rated highly by consumer reports and weren't too expensive. I got them for $89 each from http://www.albeebaby.com/ with free shipping. This was much better than the $150 they were going for at BRU. I've also seen them at BJ Wholesale too.

Why Britax - why are they so much more expensive? What makes them better?

Also, do the Evenflo Triumph recline?

Not to hijack your post but I was reading and realized your babies ages-mine are 10mo and still in the infant seats...when are you supposed to switch? They still fit, but is there a recommendation or something?

My girls were in their infant seats until their first birthday. They still fit in the infant seats until then. Check your seats to see what the weight and height limits are (we had the Graco SnugRides and I believe the weight limit was 22lbs and the height was 29").

We have Britax for when they move up.

I recently had someone from the car seat safe rider in our town come give a demonstration to our twin group. The recommendation she gave is DO NOT follow the height and weight to the T on the car seats. Some babies are 29in with LONG torsos, some have LONG legs etc. When the babies head is within 1 INCH of the top of the infant carrier its time to switch whether they are 20 inches or 40 inches just depends on how the babies body is built.

other things she pointed out is if I doesnt come with the car seat dont add it. there should be nothing between the baby and the seat. Its best to cover them with a blanket or car seat cover becausee in the event of an accident the materials get compressed and that allows more room between the baby and the straps. the straps should be tight so you can only get 1 finger in between the strap and the babies collar bone. The buckle should be armpit level. the handle should always be down when in the car. the straps for a rear facing child should be LOWER than the babies shoulders. If you are driving along and you slam on the brakes the baby is going to be hoisted towards the front windshield. If the straps are LOWER than the shoulders it will help to better keep them in place. She was very informative and I felt like I knew alot more afterwards. hope this helps!

Our girls are in the 97th percentile for height and their heads are at the top of the seats. Babies come in different sizes and shapes so I agree with E&Msmom - you can't go by what they say for height and weight limits.

Thanks! and again, sorry to hijack your post! Mine are in the 10th and 20th percentile...dd #1 stayed in her infant seat until she faced forward...probably why I couldnt recall the next size up seat.

I'm not sure this is the best value for the money, but I got Britax Roundabouts after my girls turned 1. I waited until Britax had their sale (October of this year, maybe also February and June?), then had a coupon code and found free shipping on Amazon. babycheapskate.blogspot.com generally has good posts about when sales happen on car seats. I like them a lot and the girls seem to be really comfortable. One thing I would suggest is getting a state trooper or police office to install them for you. The directions seemed very confusing and I wanted it done right. I just found a trooper who installed seats on line by searching yahoo, called the closest one and made an appointment to meet the next day and had him do it (for free). He pointed out a lot of safety features and tips for making my car safer - well worth the time it took.

DS is in the convertible car seat, while DD is still in the infant seat. We also have the Evenflo Triumph Advanced for him in each car. I love it and agree that they seem to be comfy. I researched for what seemed like forever and would have love to get a Britax for each of them, but also could not afford two of the Britax seats. My friend who also have the Evenflo Triumph Adv. suggested them because when they are still rear facing it is hard to pull the strap to tighten them in when it is in the center, whereas the ETA has a knob on the side to loosen and tighen up. I do have to admit that it is a big seat, but I do like it anyway.

Another with Evenflo Triumph Advances! A very good seat, and a very comfy seat... my boys fall asleep anytime they are in the car longer than 10 minutes!

We have the super comfy Evenflo Triumph Advances in my DH's car, and the Sunshine Kids radian 80s in my car. They seem to like them both!

Thanks for all the great responses! After reading all kinds of reviews plus your responses we got these Evenflo Triumph car seats: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3028985

We got them at BRU and we got the twins discount - 10% off each car seat plus we also had a coupon for $10 off each car seat so we ended up with a savings of $50. When I get my Christmas bonus from work we are going to get 2 more car seats to put in our other car so that both dh and I have them in our cars since we both take turns on taking them and picking them up from daycare.

That's the exact seats we have. We've been using them for a couple months now and love them!
