Our twins are 2 1/2 weeks old. Sometimes they won't sleep except in a swing or car seat. Is that OK??? I feel guilty about it......perhaps I shouldn't. They seem to be awake a lot but I read that they should sleep 16-18 hours a day. I guess that means up to 8 hours of awake. Our DD (daughter? - I don't know computer lingo) seems to stay awake alert while our litte man (DS?) is awake cranky when he is awake. Is this normal for 2 1/2 weeks? Our doctor says she isn't worried basically unless they don't gain weight. That gaining weight is the key.
By the way - I have been using the BFing forum a lot and found it very helpful.

Anyone else have late September babies and trying to BF or just late Sept babies and we can share experiences?

I am off work luckily until Mid May and seriously thinking about not going back. I know that I will need some thoughts from others in my boat twin-wise to stay sain.

Some people say to let them sleep in whatever they will sleep in, just to get them to sleep. But it really isn't a good idea. It can mess up their necks and spine.

It will take a little time, but having them sleep in their beds is the best place.

Just be careful - we had the boys sleeping in car seats for the first 4 months b/c it worked but it also caused kellen's head to flatten a bit on the left side. So we had to stop that cold turkey (which was tough) and are now wokring on correcting Kellen's head. Really, if you can get them used to the crib right away, that would be better, IMHO.

if the crib feels too big for your babies, you might try a sleep positioner. That helped our boys.

I wish my twins would sleep in carseat. They have yet to more than just doze. And most of the time they scream the whole time especially my DD. I need your secret.

That's wot I say especially in the beginning If they fall asleep in the car seat and u bring them in the house, if it disturbs them to put them in the crib, then leave them in the car seat.

If they fall asleep in the carseat, let them sleep, but I wouldn't put them in there to fall asleep. A flat surface or a slightly inclined one is best for them. Luckily for me I never had this problem and my kids HATED their infant seats. Now we are in convertibles and they are much much happier. :)

Don't feel bad about having them sleep in car seats sometimes. You do what you have to do to get them to sleep and some sleep for yourself as well. We had our girls in their bassinet half the time and in their car seats the other half until they were about 6wks old. A flat surface is best but then again when they are congested upright is better so they can breathe. During the first few weeks, they seem to be so finicky about where they are comfortable sleeping, it will get better though. My girls were sleeping in their crib at 6wks and it's going well so far. Good luck to you!
