    Hi
I just noticed that regular car seats begin with a min weight of 5 lbs. Most twins are preemies under 5lbs. Did you have to buy special car seats or did they let you use the reg car seats?

    Thank you

At the NICU where my boys were, if they were under 5lbs., they had to come home in a Chicco Keyfit 30 (minimum weight is 4lbs.). Riley came home weighing 3lbs. 13oz. and passed his carseat test in a Chicco so he was allowed to come home in one but they made me sign a waiver because they wanted him to come home in a carbed.

Mine came home in their Graco Snugrides from the NICU. They were over 5 pounds by the time they left though.

Our girls came home in the Graco Snugride as well and one was just under 5 lbs and the other just over.

Mine also came home from the NICU in their graco snugrides. They were both under 5lbs, and even though the rating for the Graco starts at 5lbs, both girls passed their carseat tests. Some NICUs won't allow this and will help you rent a car bed from a local medical supply store. I would talk to the hospital about this when you tour it so you can plan accordingly. GL.

Mine came home in a Graco Snugride too. They passed their carseat tests after they rolled receiving blankets up for extra head support. Both girls were 4lbs 9oz when the were released from the hospital.

Mine were about 3lb13oz and 4lb15oz when they came home (not in NICU though), and they did not even ask about carseats or test them at all, which I was surprised...and I have the Graco SafeSeats, which are min 5lbs too.

One of mine was 4 lbs 2 oz and the other was 5 lbs 1 oz and they both came home in the Graco snugride. They passed the carseat test at the NICU.
