We're looking into getting different car seats for our girls and I was just wondering if anyone has the Graco Comfort Sport Convertibles. What do you think of them? We don't have a huge budget to spend on car seats, so these are more in our price range than others. Does anyone know the about the safety ratings for them? How comfortable are they? Etc. Or is there another kind that's reasonably priced and a GOOD car seat?

    Thanks!

We have Graco Comfortsports, actually we have 2 sets. I think they are fine, and they get a decent rating in Baby Bargains. That being said, the weight limit on them goes up to just 40 pounds. But my girls are on the smaller side so I'm not concerned about them reaching that upper limit.

I just got my second set on sale at Target for $64/each about 2 months ago. It was this cute, girlie style:

We have Britax Marathons and love them.

Sorry, can't give you any info on the Graco.

I have the Graco Comfort Sport for all my kids - My oldest Son just outgrew his - we used it for over 3 years. Never a problem and they seem comfortable in them - no problem sleeping!

I don't have the graco comfort sport, but we have the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite and really like it! It got good ratings from consumer reports and at albeebaby.com it was MUCH less expensive than BRU. I order thru them and got the seats within a week. GL with making this decision. It took DH and I months to decide on a convertible car seat.

We just bought the Graco Comfort Sport seats last week and I am very happy with them! They were easy to install, are easy to adjust, and the girls seem very comfortable in them. We also had a limited budget and after hours of online research, I decided it wasn't worth spending the extra $$ for some of the others when this seat has good customer ratings and is just as safe as the others. There are a few different models of the seat and some have better reviews than others, so we went with these seats from BRU, plus we got the twin discount :D!

Looks like a good seat but unfortunately I have no advice on that one. We have the Evenflo Titans and I love them(they go up to 50 lbs which I guess was a little bit of a plus and the price wasn't terribly expensive...plus if you buy at BRU you get the twin discount which is 10%).

How about the new Graco Nautilus? 149 at walmart. and it goes up to 65 lbs w/ the harness and then up to 100 lbs as a booster.

I have one set of the Graco Comfort Sport seats, and they've done really well.. However, they would not fit rear-facing in my car (Honda Accord), so I had to buy Evenflo Triumphs, and they fit well. We put the Comfort Sport seats in DH's SUV, and they work just fine in there - both forward & rear facing.

We've just recently bought the Graco Nautilus & I LOVE this seat.. One of my girls is over 40 lbs, and I wasn't ready to go to a booster, yet - so this seat was perfect for us. I don't know if you can use it rear-facing, since we never had to.. My girls outgrew their infant seats before they were able to sit forward facing, so I don't know if that's an issue with you or not...

I have 2 Marathons and my oldest is in a Radian. I think you really have to think size wise (are they average, small or above average. You should try to find a seat that harnasses at least until age 4 and 40lbs and a lot of seats with the 40lbs weight limit (and usually low top slots) won't do that, so you'll end up buying another convertible again. Unless you have small children (and some just stay that way) you could be fine.

Highest top slots in the market for convertibles are: Evenflo Triumph (17"), Marathon / similar Britaxes (17.5") and Radian (18-19").

A fairly cost efficient thing to do is getting the Cosco Sceneras for $40 a piece and once they outgrow these get the Apex 65 (a little over $100 a piece) which harnasses up to 17.5" and 65lbs and then converts into a booster. However if you children are really above average, getting to age 2 1/2 in a Scenera could already be very hard.
