I was going to purchase the Britax Marathons for my girls and the site I was on says to allow 31" of clearance for rear facing. I have a Sequoia and the 2/3 of the middle row seat where the girls are now in their infant seats is only about 32 - 33" across. The other 1/3 of the seat is where their big brother sits. I can put him in the third row, but still can't use that 1/3 of the seat, because I will need to fold it up to put him in the back. Does anyone have the Marathons for their twins and if so, what vehicle, are they right next to each other and how much room do they actually take up rear or front facing? I wanted this seat because of the safety rating and consumer reviews. Can anyone help? I am starting to stress, because, although they are only 6 months, they are about 20 lbs. and I need new seats now.

We have two Marathons in our Honda Odyssey Minivan. They are in bucket seats behind the front seats. Sorry I can't help you.

Rear facing our marathons fit side by side(in buick lacrosse) and the fit one rear facing one front facing but they do not fit side by side front facing HTH

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll have to start looking at more narrow seats. Does anyone have side by side seats that fit rear and front facing? I don't want to compromise safety or their comfort with a sub standard seat. I can't tell my husband we have to get a new vehicle! :icon_eek:

Sorry, we use the Britax Marathons and they are positioned behind the front seats with the middle seat open. We have a Honda Pilot and there is enough room for an adult to sit in between the 2 seats.

  7. I have the britax marathons and a three year old and the three kids did not fit in the same row on a trailblazer. I had to go out and get a car (Yukon XL) with a third row (we also want to have the opportunity to have other people in the car). Our DD is in the third row and the middle row are bucket seats with one britax in each seat. HTH

We have the britax and we have a toyota sienna. We pushed the 2 seats together so they are basically right next to each other and there is space on the side to get into the back but it's not much and I would think with having to get another child into a carseat, that could be tricky. However, I have found that it is actually easier for my 14 yr old step son to get into the third row from the trunk so that's what we've been doing but we have one of the third row seats down. don't know if that helped at all but hope you get it all sorted out.

I have honda ody too with marathons in the middle row bucket seats and dd in her booster in the 3rd row. With all the STUFF we have to bring with 3 kids, a minivan was the best option for us over an SUV. We traded up when I was 6 months pg from honda suv to minivan and have been very happy ever since.

that being said, what carseat is your son in? can he climb over and buckle himself in? By 5, my dd was buckling herself in her turbo booster. I always double checked though. So then you could put the Marathons in outboard in middle row?
