Can't stand up or lie down -- any tips?

... or maybe I'd just like to complain to other sympathetic mommas!

I'm 33 weeks +4 today, and the girls are both doing really well and to date have been measuring as "big" singletons (I know ultrasound measurements are dodgy, but these girls are both on the 90th centile of where a singleton would be). Twin B is transverse and has been headbutting me in the ribs so much I have really bad internal bruising (which still hurts even when she's giving me a break). Twin A (possibly breech, possibly head down -- find out next week) has moved down and now I find sitting pretty uncomfortable, unless I get the position exactly right. I have appalling swelling -- right up to my bump ... which means I can't bend my legs (can only just put underwear on by myself, and have to wash feet out of the shower as I can't do it in the shower). I have carpal tunnel in both hands/arms which means that using my arms to lever myself up is virtually impossible once I have sat down. When I lie down I just hurt -- the old bruised ribs give me grief and one or other of the girls is complaining about my position. Oh, and I can't move easily once I am down, without making myself ache or hurt more ...

I know, I know, I'm expecting twins, what did I expect. But the kicker is I'm a SAHM and we're pretty cash strapped at the mo -- looking after DS (22 months) and trying to feed the three of us on a regular basis, but I find standing up for more than 5 minutes HARD. (Oh, and we live in the middle of nowhere (v. v. rural) which makes a nice wide range of options on things like take-out a non-starter). I have friends who have been GREAT in terms of helping me out with DS, but I think I'm at the limit of what I can ask them to do. (I have lots of play dates at their houses where I sit on the sofa and they look after the children ...). It scares the cr*p out of me that they might come early and we'll need lots of time in NICU; but I can't imagine how I can possibly cope much longer. I HURT almost all the time.

I guess I'm looking for sympathy and/or ideas!

    Thanks, ladies.

    xx

 I am so very sorry that you are so uncomfortable! But you are doing a great job! Do you have any family close by that can come help you? Best of luck to you! I hope you are able to get some relief soon!

I am so sorry you are feeling this way. I can totally relate though. I have the swelling, joint pain in both hands, sore EVERYWHERE else too.... I just want my body back so badly!
Oh, and It's 108 degrees here.... my AC doesn't work well so the house is always 89 degrees, and we are totally broke.
I try to not freak out each day, but it is a huge challenge. I end up in tears a lot of the time. I worry about everything constantly. I just want to make it through the delivery and take it one day at a time...

Good luck mama. Hang in there.

OMG you poor poor thing! I have no tips for you, just incredible sympathy. you must want to curl up and just cry (except that would probably hurt too! :p ). Did your doctor say if there is anything they can do about the swelling? I'm thinking not, but it might be worth asking. I also wonder if you could take a sleeping med at night to at least help you get some rest. I took ambien the last few nights of my last pregnancy because I was having horrible BHC (which i never would have complained about if I had heard your story!). Anyway, hope your discomfort eases, or that the next 4ish weeks go by super fast for you. Laura
