I'm only 9 weeks pregnant, and I can't sleep. It seems like if my legs aren't hurting, I'm starving, and if I'm not starving, my legs are hurting. I need some relief soon! I start back to work (teacher) Monday and I know I've got to be able to get some rest. Do any of you have any suggestions? Please help!

I keep some dry cereal next to my bed and when I wake up hungry, it's easy to munch on. If you don't go to the kitchen and walk around much, it's easier to fall back asleep. I used to teach as well and always had trouble falling asleep the month before school started back up.

The bad news is there is no solution for the leg pain. I'm on here right now b/c I couldn't sleep due to mine. I found if I took tylenol before going to bed, I could fall asleep easier, but not necessarily longer.

Good luck and have a good school year!

I had insomnia every night until I was about 12 or 13 weeks. It wasn't really because I was uncomfortable - I just couldn't sleep. I'd get up at least 2 to 3 times a night to eat. After about 12 weeks I was finally able to start sleeping again at night.

Best of luck to you - sorry I don't have any suggestions!

It sucks to not be able to sleep. My friend had gotten me an aromotherapy bar that smells like lavender, which is relaxing and helps me to sleep. Now I find even the scent of lavender makes me drowsy no matter what the time of the day is.

Hope you are sleeping better soon!

I'm so sorry! I feel for you and I'm right there with you. My leg achiness only lasted a few days early in my pregnancy but now it's the bathroom trips and side-sleeping that has me all achy and waking all the time. I've been taking a half a Unisom since I was about 6 weeks when my nausea really hit. My doctor said it was safe, you may want to talk with yours. It's the most researched pregnancy drug and although i didn't want to take anything, I really depend on it to function unfortunately. I work in the schools too and I'm very nervous about how I'm going to function with such poor sleep, not to mention the never ending fatigue. Some women suggested the Snoogle pillow to me--I'm not sure how much it would help with your legs, but do you put a pillow between them? I hope it gets better soon :)

I kept bananas by my bed for the middle of the night. They filled me up enough to go back to sleep and didn't leave crumbs in the bed. :)

    Hang in there!
