Can you help me with questions for my OB

    Hi everyone,

I posted last week that my OB called and presented with the option for a planned vaginal delivery of my twins where TwinA is presently breech and TwinB is transverse. I am going to see him Wed morning and want to have a discussion in more detail about risks between that delivery vs. a planned c-sec and want to make sure I don't forget to ask anything important. If it were you in my shoes what would you want to ask him?

I would ask how many breech deliveries of twins your OB has done? How long does a breech delivery take? Would there be any harm to Baby B with a breech delivery of A? Can you tell me what happens during a breech delivery? Any health concerns for you during a delivery like this? Those are some of the ones I would have off the top of my head. Best of luck to you at your OB appointment!

I agree, these are questions I would want to know the answer to.

I'm going to be completely honest...

I would take all of your questions that you plan on asking your OB and also ask them of another OB. From reading your other post, my understanding is that your OB will do it, but the others in the practice won't. I would set up an appt with one of them and ask the same questions and specifically why they will not. If your OB is willing to do it in the first place than his answers are going to lean towards "what you want to hear."

My Baby A is breech and B is vertex. My doc said that since I had a previous vaginal birth if A was the one that was vertex and B was breech he would insist on my going vaginally because A "paves the way" and makes the delivery of B much easier. That is why docs will attempt the vaginal of a breech baby b, but not A. However, since A is breech he said that a C-section was the only option because my health and the safety of the babies takes priority over my desire to attempt a vaginal birth.

Good luck on your quest for info and I truly wish you a safe delivery. Try to be open minded and remember the ultimate goal is two healthy babies.

I would want to know how A is going to pave the way in a smooth matter so that B can be born, and what the difference is between A coming out head first and butt first (apart from position) ... will it take longer? more risks? what risks?

My OB performed a breech extraction on B after A made way (I also had a previous vaginal birth of a 9lbs+ baby and my twins were close to 8lbs), but I am wondering how that works if A comes out butt first?! Any idea on the size of the babies, will this make a difference for a breech delivery of A (whether it's a 5lbs, 6lbs or 7lbs child?).
