I am going on 15 weeks tomorrow. I have three flights of stairs to get to our condo at home that just has to be done (no elevator), but the hubby carries everything I would normally be (groceries, exc) But at work...I work in a three flour building I go up and down a couple times to go out and get air, to bring stuff around, exc. The couple months I had a hard time with the stairs because I was so tired, then it got better, but today I noticed I was getting winded going up and my legs were burning. Sence this is my absolutly only form of excersize I am a bit worried about switching over to the elevator so early, with the thought now my weights seriously going to sky rocket  Its not causing me pain or anything so should I still use em or is it time to get really lazy?

I'm 26 weeks and I can still do the stairs. Depending on how big the staircase is I usually wind up out of breath by the time I'm on the top or bottem of them. Let's just say I don't do stairs (and other things for that matter) as quickly as I did before I was pregnant!

i can still waddle down them pretty well, it's coming back up that's the hard part, as i am then completely out of breath and ready to lay down.

I know that I walk from my car to my work area then for 6 hours I'm on my feet  . After work, I usually take a shuttle bus to the parking lot but I got the wonderful idea to walk to my car  . Never again....I think that I overdo it by being on my feet for so long. The bus ride to my car then the car ride home and to my bed is my "saving grace".

So, don't give up just yet...keep moving, don't take the easy road out...unless it's quittin' time! :drinks:

I HATE stairs...we live in a two-story house and lately I have been finding ways to save my trips up and down. I work in a hospital on the 3rd floor and I always take the elevator up but sometimes do stairs coming down. My doc even mentioned talking about stairs at 20 weeks...I will be 20 weeks tomorrow and my appt. is Thursday. So we will see what she has to say!

I can still do stairs, but I end up pretty winded! I feel like my muscles have atrophied so much from not exercising! My OB has 3 flights of stairs to his suite and I always take them for a little bit of exercise, but my legs feel like Jello by the time I get there.

Ugh. Stairs. Yup, I can still do them, but color me exhausted once I get to the top. Just one of the joys I guess.

I'm only expecting 1 this time, so stairs aren't really a problem. But with my twins, I had to be careful because stairs really brought on the contractions! At 29 weeks, when I was put on modified bedrest, I was told absolutely no stairs... the only time I did them, was going in and out of my house (about 5 steps) for OB appts. DH got stuck with all the laundry and such which was in the basement.

I stopped doing stairs at about 20 weeks. I was more afraid of falling due to my center of balance being off. Nobody cares. When I get in to go up or down one flight I just say, "Sorry, twins on board" and I always get positive looks or a nice welcome.

Oh yes, I look at stairs as exercise. Do them slowly if you need but do not stop. Get that heart pumping!

    I love the exercise!

Hah, ditto! Going up or down I get pains in my pelvis. Just take it one step at a time!

I went to 36W1D and never had a problem with stairs until my peliv seperated the day before I had the babies. I just took the stairs slowly when I got to about 32 weeks and on.

I'm 18 weeks with identical boys and i battle with stairs! Strange because before i fell pregnant i was fairly fit and used to jog up them no problem!! Must be as i have stopped any excersize as i was way too tired to even try!!
