Can you get away with using other peoples coupons?

I used one of those Enfamil $6 coupons the other day at BRU and the woman asked me for my drivers liscense and wrote down some information from it (can't remember what). Is that normal? My friend once gave me one (which like an idiot, I forgot about and never used and it expired) but now I'm wondering if I had used it, if I would have been embarrassed and rejected from using it since it had my friends name on it. Has that ever happened to you? Is it ok to use them if it has someone elses name on it?

I've always wondered about that, I noticed people sell theirs on eBay...Maybe it's a new thing they have started doing (checking against photo ids).

Huh. I've given away a bunch on here and no one ever said they had a problem using them.

Maybe they only check at BrU.

I never had any trouble using other people's coupons. I was once asked for ID at Walmart and I just said oh a friend gave me the coupon and the cashier just said ok and used it. That was the only time I was asked for ID. I've used lots of other people's coupons.

I have used other peoples and have never been asked for ID. That is weird I have never heard of that before. I don't get many from Enfamil anymore but Stop & Shop has been printing out $7 ones at the register when I check out so I will take that.

Maybe because it was such a BIG coupon? I've never run into that. But if it had been used, they would have kept it, right? So, hmmmm. [IMG]

At our local store, since it is a CHECK, they run it like that as payment and ask for my ID. All they do is punch in my DL # like any other check, and hand it back. I've never been questioned about them not being mine. Now, BrU is a different story. They always make me sign the back of the check, which is dumb, it isn't made out to me, it just has the name as an account. So in that case, I sign something you can't read. I think it depends on how the clerk runs it, I've been other places where they just scan it like a coupon, but if you read the fine print, it does say "void if sold or transferred". And that is my 2 cents.

They never check at my store. I usually go to Walmart.
