Okay now that the girls are eating solids and sleeping through the night I am not producing as much milk but still eating my crazy nursing diet!! I was loosing weight so fast while eating whatever I wanted while the girls were EBFing. So now I have pretty much stopped loosing and maybe even gained a little in the last two weeks!! YIKES! I really only eat when I am craving which is all the time...LOL... I am hungry and thirsty all the time still. So should I keep eating this way until I am done nursing all together or should I start "dieting". And one more thing... How many nursers out there excersize regularly and what do you do? I do NOT think I can start running again because my "tatas" are huge still!! LOL :p Extra info: I am a size 7 and back down to about 135 my prepreggo weight (I was up to about 210 at 35wks gestation 170 when I left the hospital), BUT of course my body is a completely different shape thanks to all my new curves (hips and boobs!!) And will anything get rid of the twinskin?? Also I am aware that my body may "hang on" too a little extra fat as long as I am nursing. My friend who nursed twins for 11 months lost 15 lbs in the two weeks after she quit nursing!!! thanks for any and all advice!!

LOL I really liked my exclamation mark key today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I exercise a lot. When I have someone to watch the babies, I swim laps about 1/2 hr. If not, I go for a run with the jogging stroller. (Works for me because even making milk for two I'm not that big. )

Don't know about dieting once babies have started solids - hope someone else will have the answer for you!

I think it depends on what you mean by dieting. I would go to any extremes but if you regularly eat say, 2200 calories, maybe you can cut it to 1800 and make sure it's full of protein and veggies and whole grains. If you are already eating low calories like 1800 or less then you probably need to stay where you are. I am struggling with eating right now. I feel like I stopped losing last week (I did) and I am so so sad about it because I'd still like to lose another 20 lbs before I'm done BF. Because I'm in the throws of beginning BF I can't cut anything. I hate it.

You can do weight watchers. The point system is designed for nursing mothers. You just get more points. I have lost 3lbs. I would lose more if I stopped cheating and started excersizing. It's a good plan, you can eat whatever you want, just not a lot. You should look into it. Good luck!! Lisa

I do WW's. I also run a few times a week (I completed my first 5K last weekend!). My tata's are ginourmous so I wear 2 sports bras and that helps with the bouncing. I've lost 18 lbs so far since late August!

As far as the twinskin? Uggh..I still have it..I don't know if anything can be done to get rid of it.

LOL I decided I am going to try my 1st post partum run tomorrow (okay walk/jog!!) with two sports bras!! Dh thinks I might need three! :p I basically have decided to cut junk food and pop, drink more water and keep the rest of my diet the same until after BF is over! Thanks for the advice ladies!

I just try to eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. I try to eat healthy and not too many sweets (I have a horrible sweet tooth and I love fast food, but I try to watch this). I think that's the key to staying at a healthy weight. That, plus some exercise. I don't regulary schedule exercise or have a routine. I get enough by chasing the kids around, house chores, errands and taking the kids to the park or just walking with the kids around the neighborhood.

I don't believe in diets anymore. Sure, you might loose weight for a while doing WW/South Beach/Atkins, etc. But, unless you change your relationship and attitude with food, it's hard to maintain the weight loss with a "diet."

135 seems like a good weight to me. How tall are you?

Oh yeah, I think the only way to get rid of twinskin is a tummy tuck. You probably don't want to do that until you're done having kids.

I jog about 4 miles every day (w/ two sports bras, lol) and have lost about ~20lbs in the 10 weeks I have been working out.

I am 5'5" and I am "guestimating" my weight. I just dont feel as fit as I want to feel. I dont really expect my jeans to fit because my twinnies really really spread my hips, but of course I still try them on every couple of weeks!! haha... thanks for all the advice. I have never really dieted a day in my life so why start now HUH? but I am going to begin to eat better.

Just wanted to add that I've had an interesting experience recently. I've cut dairy due to a sensitivity in Greta. I have been off dairy for 10 days and I've lost weight. I didn't think I had but I got on the scale this am and I'm down 5 pounds from last week. Weird! I think cutting dairy has forced me to eat healthier because dairy is in everything it seems so I have to really try to find foods without and most are really healthy. Plus, the non-dairy diet has completely regulated me if you know what I mean. Anyway, thought I'd share, for what it's worth.

Thanks... that is helpful. I was off dairy for a few weeks but ours was just plain ole' reflux and it did nothing for Alyssa when I quit. I am desperately afraid of not getting enough calcium so I do drink alot of milk now and eat cheese. Way off base here... but can you take a calcium supplement while nursing???
