Kevin and Patrick never liked their pacifiers and thus do not use them. My first was an avide binker lover (I had to take it away at 3 [IMG]). It has been an awful 6 months without them to be honest. K & P are very whiny throughout the day and seem to wake a lot at night these days not to mention, a whole lot of crying going on all day every day. [IMG]

So here is my question... is there anything I can do to get them to like the bink now? They always act like its choking them and they spit it out, can I do something like put it in their mouth when they are sleeping etc? I am really getting desperate. I have never been around such criers in my life (oh, and its nothing thats wrong with them health wise to make them cry... they just do it for no reason...attention me think, which they get plenty of). Help me, my twins are doing me in! [IMG]

    Hi Sarah,

Have you tried different shapes of binkies? Maybe it's the shape they don't like? Emma won't take one either, and neither did Hannah, luckily they don't/didn't really need one. Also, are you giving them the small size...Jacob gags on the bigger ones. Josh would only take the NICU type of binky for a while...they sell them at Wal-Mart I think. Sorry I don't have more advice.... [IMG]

[IMG]s...I know you could use a few right now.

DS used paci since birth, DD not. At 6 months DD started taking DS' paci from him and using it so I gave her one and the rest is history. I tried, like you from the start to get her to take one and she would gag and/or spit it out. I guess I don't have an answer to that, except sometimes they just decide to want one.

when my boys were weeks old they took it sometimes. My friend told me a trick...get the pacifier wet. Get a cup of water and dip the pacifier in and put it in their mouth and repeat over and over until they begin to suck. ALso, as you put it in, tap on the circle part repeatedly. As I am typing that, it seems like it is a joke!!! ANyways, it worked for my boys until one day early on they both made up their mind they would not take it ever again!

A few weeks ago i tried to give it to them again but they spit it out. I wanted them to have one so they can sooth themselves. I ended up finding a small flimsy stuffed animal that is not dangerous for them to sleep with. They hug it when they are sleepy.

Oh, I really like the stuffed animal idea... we just started giving them little taggie blankets to use at night.

I need something soon before I pull my hair out!

    Hi there,

my kiddos use the soothies brand of paci. They are shaped like bottle nipples -- I would get the newborn style (- green it's softer than the 3 month one) they also do flavored ones, but i've never tried them.

My boys only use their binks at night really or if they are really upset/

    good luck

You can try different brands. My son took the soothie, my daughter hated it. So for the longest time I was struggling like you since she wouldn't take it. Then one day I bought a Nuk paci to give my son, well he HATED it. Just for fun, I stuck it in my DD's mouth not expecting much, and she went to town on it! I was shocked. Suddenly, she was a lot happier (and so was I). This happened at 5 months.
