My kids actually say please (most of the time - sometimes when reminded) and they say "thank you" and "welcome" to each other when handing things to one another!!

Am I living a dream? Is it going to last? It's SO SWEET!!! [IMG]

Diane, it's not a dream!! I taught all my kids to say it from the get go and it's habit now, it's automatic [IMG]

In fact, I took Brandon to the Post Office and I was using the Self-Serve Kiosk/Computer and when it spit out my label, Brandon looked inside and said "thank you" [IMG]

Cute! We're already working on teaching ours. That's adorable when they're so polite!

I hope it lasts, too! We are just getting good at it. So much so that they love to pass things back and forth just to say "please" and "thank you." Definitely one of the highlights of this stage.

I think it will last... mine started about that time, and still say please and thank you, and your welcome. You just have to keep at it with them.

At a recent party, our girls were complimented on how nice theri manners were for 2 years old. (Most came from older people, which is a huge compliment) Keep up the good work, for most, good manners come naturally when used everyday.

We've actually gotten flack from family members for teaching our girls to say "May I be excused" at the end of a meal. They think it's too much. I don't think so. We don't expect anything from them that we don't do ourselves. We model please and thank you all the time and I get "Thank you mommy", after little trivial things I do for them. It makes my heart melt. I love that it is now hard-wired into their brains to be polite. YOU deserve the credit for their good behaviour. As long as you stay polite, so will they.

Sharon, we had to do that as well! We called my Mom and Dad Ma'am and Sir. My friends' parents didn't like it when we did it to them for some reason, but it WAS hardwired in us as kids too!

    Thanks for the replies!!

How cute. [IMG] I think if they know it's important and you keep reminding them they will keep saying. My 6 year old has always said, please, thank you etc., because we always had her say it and it was important to us that she use manners, she is still like that. WTG!!

We've encouraged the girls to say "Please" and "Thank You" ever since they learned the signs for it. Now they are pretty consistent about it. Any time they want anything they sign and say "Pease." And Alana just LOVES saying "Dankoo." If you hand her anything, she'll say it over and over until you say "You're Welcome." It's so funny!!!

I love when they say "pease" and "kikoo" which is how it comes out at this stage! [IMG]

The one thing we're working on is teaching them that just because they said "please" doesn't mean they get whatever they're asking for! If we're on the way to daycare and they say, "Zoo, elephant! PLEASE!" it doesn't mean Mommy can take off work for the day! [IMG] They also love saying "Rita's turn! Peeeeeeeeez!" when their sister is playing with something they want, and sorry, she might not be ready to give it up yet, LOL!
