can they go out if they're sick?

We've been cooped up in the house since Saturday. both girls are unwell. coughing, wheezing and some fever. Today they both seem to be doing better about the fevers. Nefeli has the croup and they both have lower respiratory infections. They're supposed to stay home from daycare till at least Thursday, then we go to the pedi again and see how things are.
Just wondering if it's wiser to stay home till then. We're used to being out more and it's getting boring. Off course I wouln't risk them getting worse if we were to go out.
What are your rules about going out when sick?
    Thanks.

We stay home for 48 hours post fever and/or when I feel that my girls (or myself) are well on the mend. Last thing I want to do is spread an illness.

I would say if you can't go to Daycare and/or cancel a playdate kinda thing- stay home unless you have to go out.

It can get dull, (we spent 9 days home straight last week due to respitory illness/croup/etc)....try to mix it up with new things to do (break out new toys, let them in a room usually off limits, etc). We tend to do a lot of pillow play (spread out on floor and jump/crawl, lay on them), dance to music, bring out tupperware/your clothes/shoes for dress up etc.

    Hope they feel better soon!!!!

I keep everybody in when there is a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting involved, or when they have green snot. If we just have colds or coughs and the worst is over, we will go out.

Last time the boys had colds, my sister's kids had colds too- we all went out to the Children's Museum, because we figure we ALWAYS get sick when we go there, so we might as well just go when we are already not 100%/. That probably sounds awful, but it's true! ;)

I take them out when they're sick as long as they seem to feel up to it. When Amy had the croup really bad, I still took her out (we went to the airfield and watched planes taking off!). It keeps us from going stir-crazy, and doesn't seem to make them any sicker. The exception would be if they're throwing up or having diarrhea, because it's hard enough to deal with that at home.

If they're sick (and I don't even count having a cold as being "sick" -- every child I know has a cold from about October to April), we don't go places where they'll have close contact with other kids, but we'll still go to Costco or to the park. At the very least, we go strollering, which can't possibly spread illness since they don't touch anything except the stroller.

I agree, i would keep them in. Or maybe just go outside for a bit but stay on your property and just get some fresh air. Hope you can all get out soon!

If they have bad diarrhea or vomiting I wouldn't take them out. Otherwise, if they're not passed out on the bed sick with a fever, we take ours out when they're ill. Short trips, in the pram, nothing near other children and nothing taxing. I wrap them up, but not too warm if they have a fever.

Usually they're sick one after the other, so it's one of the few times they get to be alone with mum all day.

I agree also. I would also go outside for a bit and open a few windows to air out the house.
