My mom and I have a 2 1/2 hour flight a week from today from Cleveland down to Sarasota. I just weaned them, and they do great with bottles, but I want to be sure they'll let me take them. SHould I buy powdered formula instead?
Also, has anyone traveled with a double stroller? Will they let me use it up to the gate, and then send it down from there?
And any suggestion for checking car seats? I'm a little nervous about them getting damaged or lost.
Any other traveling tips would be appreciated!
Also, better to be near window or aisle???

I just traveled from MA to OH (2 hours), so I can share my experience. I read online that they do allow formula through the security checkpoints. I will be honest and say I filled my girls sippies with milk and was prepared to tell them it was formula if need be. They never questioned me.

We used our double stroller all the way until we boarded. They gate checked it for me and took it as we were getting on the plane. We got it immediately when we got off the plane.

We used these car seat covers for our seats. I was fortunate enough to have bought them used from another twin mom. I have heard from others that they sell something similar at BRU. I figured the way the airlines handle the luggage, I wasn't taking any chances.

We both had an aisle going down but one whole row to ourselves coming home. The one row was easier for me because there were times during the flight that both girls wanted me. I brought lots of snacks and a couple of new toys. I'll be honest and tell you it was hard for me to keep them contained during the first flight. The girls just didn't understand why they couldn't get up and run. :( Coming home was easier. One slept most of the way and I just kept feeding the other one. I brought some new "junk food" snacks that they were very interested in since they don't normally get them. Definitely bring something that is their favorite. For one of my girls it was her Pooh bear and for both it was their favorite books. That helped too.

    GOOD LUCK!!

I called TSA about it and they said that "reasonable amounts of water would be allowed in bottles." We flew to MD a couple of months ago and out of Orlando no questions. I took the RTU formula in a check on bag and had one bottle each with measured water just in case for powdered formula. Coming home I had the same set up and I was asked to pour the water out at the security checkpoint. So I guess I would just be prepared. But they did tell me that "juice" was acceptable so you could always put a measured amount in a sippee and pour it in a bottle if needed.

When we flew to Fl. last year we had to mix the bottles before going through security, they will not let you take water through security, but you can take formula mixed with water through. So we mixed it right before going through security. You can also buy water after going through security.

As for the stroller, we took our double stroller through the airport and gate checked it right as we boarded the plane, it worked great.

We didn't take carseats so I can't help you there. Have a great trip.

When we traveled with the girls, we were able to bring along the travel size formula cans. If they don't have those, I would suggest you bring powder. You just never know how the airline is going to react that day. I would figure in the end they will let you bring what you will for the babies because they are not going to let your babies starve. They did not let us bring water through the scanner check thing but we were allowed to buy water once we were on the other side. The flight attendants were really nice and even heated out bottles for us by placing them in hot water. GL

SHould I buy powdered formula instead? I brought regular milk in the bottles, in a small insulated bag. No problems. You just need to make sure to declare it at security.

Also, has anyone traveled with a double stroller? Will they let me use it up to the gate, and then send it down from there? You can gate check it. You can use it all the way up to the plane door.

And any suggestion for checking car seats? I'm a little nervous about them getting damaged or lost. Ours did get lost on the flight up! We were given loaners until they found them. I did not put them in any kind of bag, and they were fine.

Also, better to be near window or aisle??? 2 aisle seats.

Best of luck! Have fun in FL!
