Can I ask a question about HPT's in here?

    Hi Ladies,

I'm asking for my sister. She took an HPT this a.m. In the first 3 minutes she didn't notice anything in the test window, but after about 5-10 minutes she did notice a faint shadow of a line where the positive line would be. I told her it may be an evaporation line and she will have to just test again in a few days. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, did it end up being an evaporation line or did it turn to a solid positive?

    Thanks!

Could be an evap line if it was after 10 minutes. What kind did she use? I've had the best luck with the First Response tests.

I'm not sure. I think it was EPT? It was one where there is a plus or minus sign. I'll tell her to get the First Response and wait a few days.

I had that happen before too. Initially only the one negative line came up, but a little while later there was a very faint second line, that would make it positive.. I was NOT pregnant.

I have had this happen before and was pg. I would either wait a few days or try another test. There are the new digital ones that are pretty expensive, but I think they work quite well!

I have had it happen and I was NOT pregnant....the +/- ones are hard sometimes, I have read that the blue dye kind can have the dye 'bleed' into a line to make it look positive after the time limit.

Hope she gets the answer she wants!!

I've heard the blue dye tests can be notorious for evaps. I would tell her to get a pink dye test. How many days before her AF is supposed to come?

I took a test with the twins and with Olivia that I "thought" were evaps. A few days later I got positives.

Agree with everyone else that it was likely an evap and stay away from blue dye. I liked the walmart equate brand...it's +/- but it's pink dye and I haven't had an evap on it before. I also like First Response.
