Can babies eat strawberries?

I make my own baby food and was wondering if it is okay for babies to eat strawberries. For some reason I think I heard they can't.

Gerbers makes a banana, apple, strawberry stage 2 so I don't see why not. My boys have. I think it is just one of those foods that are considered high allery risk.

With my DD1 once we cycled through all the cereal/stage 1& 2 baby food and she started on table foods I gave her everything that wasn't considered a choking hazard (like nuts/raisins/popcorn. She is now a really good eater & eats pretty much everything we do. If either you or DH have any allergies & would be very careful - but if not I think they're fine.

 

They actually aren't supposed to have them until after a yr old..I can't remember why. Really the only berry they can eat before then is the blueberry. That being said, I was not aware of all of the food restrictions with my older 3 ... they ate anything and everything and they are fine. I've also given the babies strawberries (before knowing the age factor) and they did fine with them.

 

Strawberries are a common allergy. That is they they say to wait until 1 year old. If you're not concerned about allergies, give them a little and watch them. If no reaction, they are ok for more

 

OOOH! I think strawberries are after a year! Maybe the processed food that is mixed....but I don't know about plain....
