Hi! We survived our first camping trip with the kiddos! It was a lot of work but it was fun too. We packed enough stuff for a week and we were only there two days!! We cheated and left the night prior to our checkout date because we longed for our bed. We can't even blame that on the babies, although rooming with them like old times was a bit of an adjustment. They're so noisy even though they STTN.

The PNPs were lifesavers. The first day I set up towels on a tarp that they could roll around on but they ended up eating some dirt and who knows what else, so by day 2 the pack n plays just made sense. The other thing that was essential was the shade canopy. It was so hot inside the tent that we spent all of our day under the canopy. We ended up putting the PNPs under some trees in our campsite for naptime. Naps were not ideal. A symphony of screaming ensued each time they were put down, I think b/c it was out of their routine and we probably kept them up a little too long. I wish I had bought rashguards for them to wear. They were only in the sun 20 minutes total while we played in the water and even with sunscreen, hats, and tshirts one of them got a little red on the arms (I was so bummed at DH's sunscreen job!!). We live so close to the beach yet this was their first official trip. It was really fun dipping their feet in the ocean and sand.

We ditched the solids altogether, I think it would have been a lot more work to fit that in. Oh, next time we will definitely make plans to camp with family!! A few friends visited us but we could have used some extra hands. In a way it felt like we were on baby duty just like at home, but with a nicer backdrop.

    Here are a few pics...

We just got back from a camping trip! It's nice to know someone who is willing to go camping with baby twins. We are planning on going next year too, but everyone else I know would not attempt camping with even one baby. So I guess I'm not crazy! :D

Well you have a child already so I'm sure you can handle it like a pro! My suggestion--go before they are crawling :) I think if we went in another couple of months it would have been more challenging. Plus if you can bring friends or family, you'll be fine. We had a great trip to Yosemite when they were 3 months old, made fun because we went with my parents and aunt and siblings and everyone pitched in. It was truly a vacation for DH and me. We ate breakfast together and sipped our coffee....ahhh. Such a treat.

We bought a camper this year. We plan to camp A LOT next summer. Cheap way to get away. Good to know that it can be done. This year probably would have been easier...next year should be interesting with crawling possibly walking. Better bring lots of bandaids and ointment LOL

In a way I think it will be harder when they're older and mobile but in a way it should be more fun and easier. My two nap three times a day, so by the time you feed and get organized and get out for a walk or to the beach someone's tired and melting down. I love that they nap so often, but travelling might be easier once they are needing to sleep so frequently.
