We usually go camping with DH family around thanksgiving weekend cuz he has got time off from work without using vacation days.. I love camping and i want to go 1 more time before the babies come. However I don't know if that will be too late or not. How were/are you ladies feeling around then and if i went do you think i would be just miserable??

TIA, i just don't know what to expect in 2 months.

If it were me I wouldn't, but i am an overly cautious person.

What type of camping is it? Is it the type you hike into, or is it the type you drive into, and will have constant access to your cell phone, vehicle, and emergency services? Maybe it would be OK if it were the second, so you can get medical care if you need it... just my personal opinion, though.

I went camping when I was pg with the boys at 27-30 weeks. It was in a state park for Halloween and we had cell phone and such and I slept on an air mattress in a tent.

I am also going camping in 2 weeks at 27 weeks pg for another Halloween camping weekend,. Sleeping in a tent on an air mattress with the twins...
    LOL

I think you will be fine as long as there not hiking. cell phone and medical services are available near by.

I will say that In November when my family took a trip to our cottage when I was pg. I was due in January no one would let me go. But I think 27 weeks you should be fine.

    have fun!

    You are some brave women!!!!
I was wayyyy too uncomfortable to go camping after my 1st trimester! :)
Getting up & down from the floor became challenging...so camping was out of the question for me! There was also the little question of how often I had to go to the bathroom to consider....
If you do decide to go please let us know how it goes :good:

ETA: I suppose If I would have had an RV with a bed and a bathroom I maybe would have gone

I was supposed to go camping at 26wks,and I probably could have if I wanted to 'suck it up'...but I'm glad I didn't, I was just too uncomfortable. I refused to make the decision of going or not until a couple of days before, I REALLY wanted to go, I LOVE camping and I can only get my dh to go once a year! :(

I even tried laying on an airmattress for a while (ok for like 5min) ugh, and I like what the PP said about the potty...i have been going to the bathroom every 2hrs at night since I got pregnant...

    Good luck with your decision!!

I think if you think you are up for it go for it and since you love it Im sure youll enjoy it!

No offence to camping lovers but I would only go 'CAMPING' if it involved a cushy hotel and room service especially when Im pregnant :)

I do not like to camp, so my advice would be don't go!! But really, do you have to hike to your camping location? What's the bathroom situation there? I honestly would not want to trot to rustic bathroom facilities every 20 minutes, plus it's hard to get up from the ground at that point.

we did go camping but it was hard to get off the air mattress and run thru the camp ground to go pee pee every half hour during the night but I also love camping and got some great preggo pictures. but where we camp you drive right to your site, awsome bathroom facilitys with hot showers. close to major hospital and plenty of cell phone service.
    If you go Have Fun!!

Thanks guys...The place that we go you drive up to the sites, has bathrooms and showers but i would have to drive to them in the middle of the night probably isn't too much fun... I might see if we can get a cabin or something..

It depends.. How far away from home will you be? What is involved? Will you just be sitting most of the time?

I dont see a problem with it.. But just remember that the Dr may put you on Bedrest.. I say.. Just think of it as you are going.. and then decide as time gets closer.

The bathroom issue is definitely one to consider. I've gone camping post 30 weeks with both of my singleton pregnancies but not with the twins. The twin pregnancy was too touch and go to be more than an hour away from home after 25 weeks. If you're the camping type and you haven't had any complications, then I wouldn't be too worried about it. Just make sure you have something really comfortable to sleep on and take lots of pillows. Don't forget some comfy camp chairs as well.

If you're not too far from home/hospital, I would have NO problem with going. Sounds like it is going to be fun!

I went camping at 28 weeks. I would say, it depends on how you are feeling. I was on the fence right up until we left. We did borrow a camper so that we did not have to tent camp on the ground. I personally think it was relaxing to get away and get my mind off of things. Plus-it was the heat of the year up here in MN, so 80+ days, and still survived. I would say book it, but know what the cancellation policy is, so that when things get closer you can decide.

    HTH!

I went camping around 6 months pregnant. I didn't sleep much between fighting with the air matress and getting up to pee every hour. HOWEVER, my son does Boy Scouts and it was important to him so I went. It was fun!! Now the twins are 2 months old and I'm staying home....LOL camping and preggo I can do -camping with two infants, I cannot. :umm:
