So JT has been banging his head when he mad or frustrated for quite some time now, we just ignore it, he won't hurt himself. However this morning I get out of the shower and I can hear them "talking" in their cribs and DH is making them eggs and said they had been awake since I got in. I said OK I'll hurry so they don't start crying. I go to the basement and I can hear banging and hysterical laughing....so when I get back upstairs I peek in and see JT banging his head on the crib and Jack laughing hysterically at him...DH comes to look and opens the door more and there stands Jack (his crib is more behind the door) banging his head too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotflmbo:
I know they won't hurt themselves but it sounds soooooo hard on the bed...its almost like the harder they do it the harder they laugh. My mom said the novelty should wear off soon and its probably rattling their teeth or something and its funny. Anyone else go through this? Their little heads were red this morning from banging so hard! And then they were doing it again tonight when they went to bed!!! I video taped it so you can hear them......Thanks for reading, I guess if nothing else I just want to know I'm not the only Mommy to lunatics!

    OMG that is too funny!!!!

My oldest taught Jake when he was 18 months to sit in front of the sliding glass door and hit his head on it while saying "Jake". It was absolutely the funniest thing EVER. I told Jon to stop doing it but Jake will still go and sit in front of the door and hit his head while saying Jake. It cracks me up every time :rotflmbo:

    That video is funny :)
My son used to be a headbanger, he is not as bad as he was. But he would bang his head on the wall and look at me with this sly grin, just waiting to see if I would say something. Sneaky child!

:) I hope it's a short phase for you guys. Mine have been doing that for probably 8 months; they feed off each other, and now they do it when they are mad. It has lessened, but at this point it drives me crazy  .

I have a head-banger. He head-butts as well, in fact that is his first reaction to anything that makes him unhappy is to head-butt it. It's like he's a goat or something.

DD does it here mostly. Usually on the wall, because of the hollow sound-the wall, not her head :) She does it on her crib occasionally too. When I tell her to stop, she looks at me, smiles, and keeps doing it until I move her. Luckily, DS hasn't figured it out yet. Emphasis on yet.

Haha, that video is too funny! :rotflmbo:

My guys do this too, especially Jack. We taught them the sign for "hurt", and Jack will take a running start, bang his forhead on a door (wall, etc), giggle, and sign "hurt". We have to be very careful not to react when he does this, or when he bangs the back of his head on the highchair. My mother made the mistake of saying "OUCH" when he did this, so now he bangs his head deliberately so he can hear you say "OUCH"!
