On Monday, 11/12 I went for a Dr. visit. My BP was higher than normal and my swelling was TERRIBLE. Really, I could hardly walk the swelling was so bad, so it was no surprise to me when she said I need to be hospitalized. My Dr. expected pre-e before this visit, but a 24 hour urine and blood work came back normal. So, I am off to the hospital for another 24 hr urine and will have these weird socks on my feet with some blow up type things on my legs that were supposed to keep me from getting a blood clot.

My dr. was not on call the next day so I talked the Dr. that saw me into letting me go home. I was not dialated and was not having contractions so he let me go, but said I need to see me Dr. the following day. Fast forward to Wednesday, 11/14 my Dr. put me right back in the hospital because I was contracting and was 3 cm. She said she thought I was in early labor and she did not want me back home until I had the babies. Still 3 cm overnight, but when the Dr. came in the next morning, I was closer to a 4 and the contractions were consistant. Luckily I was not feeling most of them, but the once I felt were strange. My Dr. broke my water about 8:30am and the Dr. expected to start Pitocin, but it turns out I progressed on my own and did not need it. I was at 10 by 1pm.

Baby A was vertex, but B was breech. I really wanted a vaginal delivery and my Dr. felt good about getting B to turn, so off to the operating room we went for a vaginal delivery. Callie Marlayna was born at 1:51pm 11/15. She was easy as can be to get out. I pushed about 3 times and there she was at 5 lbs. 14 1/2 oz at 17 3/4 inches long. No stitches, no tears, no problems. Baby B was a different story. She was rear end down and my Dr. could not get her to turn. My Dr. called for another Dr. who tried to turn her with no success, so they said C-section. Carrie Makayla was born at 2:18pm at 5 lbs. 7 oz and 17 1/4 inches long. Praise the LORD neither of them had to go to NICU. I had prayed for this my entire pregnancy, so this was a blessing, especially since the NICU is 20 minutes away from the hospital where I delivered. Baby B did have a score of 3 at 1 minute, but it was an 8 at 5 minutes so obviously whatever was wrong fixed itself.

We found out after delivery that Baby B had a true knot, which means that her cord was tied in a knot. Luckily hers was loosely tied, but a vaginal delivery could have tied it tighter and made for complications, so again we are blessed that things turned out the way they did.

It was really not that bad having a vag & CS delivery. To be honest, I really don't feel like I had a vaginal delivery at all. My section cut hurts a little, but really not that bad. I thought the C-section itself was the weirdest thing I have experienced as I had watched TOO much tv about it and was imagining what they were doing. I had a cold, so I could not breath out of my nose, and it made things worse that they put that oxygen thing up my nose. I hated that as it made me so dry I was asking my husband to kiss me just so I could get some juice in my mouth. Also, it seemed like it took them FOREVER to sew me up, so I was getting worried something was wrong.

Surprises on the section was all the shaking and itching. I had to have medication for both because they were out of control. Also, I start puking when I got back in my room so they gave me meds for that too.

All in all, I gained 52 pounds as I got to 198. When I brought the girls home at 4 days old I weighed 181. 2 weeks after coming home, I now weigh 146, which is my pre-preg. weight. The swelling took about 10 days to get rid of after I delivered.

Since delivery I have had BP problems, but medicine fixed that and I am getting weaned off the Rx now.

Our girls are doing WONDERFUL. BF is going well, but it certainly is not as easy as with one. I have one that sleeps good at night and one that cries most of the night, so it is taking some getting used to, but we will certainly make it.

Thanks to everyone for so much support during my pregnancy. I thought of you girls so many different times in the hospital when different things came up.

Way to go Momma! And you are amazing back down to your pre-pregnancy weight. My kids are 16 months old and I'm still in need of losing a good 15!

When my Dr. said C-section I said to my husband, "this is my worse nightmare" Turns out it was not so bad. :D

    Congrats!!!

Just wondering whether they tried to get her out feet first (instead of turning). They usually say breech extractions are safer and faster than trying to turn (although I do understand in your situation with the knot it was probably fine the way it went). My baby B also scored 5 at first, and 9 at 5 minutes ... quick recovery as well.

    Congrats again!!! And enjoy!

My Dr. said feet first would have been fine too, but she could not get to the baby's feet. The only thing should could reach was her rear end.

That is so great. What a great story! I am so glad both of your twins were healthy and didn't need the NICU. Also, for you to already be down to your pre-pregnancy weight...that is very inspiring!
