Well, we have found one more thing that Caleb loves...Gerber Graduates Lil Sticks! They are the most disgusting thing I've ever seen, smelled, hel in my hand, but he LOVES them! He ate 3 on Saturday and the whole jar today. I have to give credit for this discovery to my MIL who bought them during her visit 2 weeks ago. I was too chicken to offer them because I don't even feel comfortable eating weiners so I most certainly was reluctant to give them to my babies. They sat in the pantry for the entire two weeks. I left for about an hour on Saturday and when I came back she said that Caleb had eaten 3 of them. I seriously did not believe her. Today I saw it with my own eyes-it's like they're little crack weiners or something. He's totally hooked! I swear he was a different baby all weekend-playful, energetic, grinning from ear to ear. I feel like I have been starving my boy all this time. So the question is.....

How many is too many times to feed him these little sticks of heaven? The jar says there are no preservatives and that they're a good source of protein (we gave him the chicken ones).

Ok-so here are a few pictures... Thanks for reading!

I think almost anything in moderation is okay, now a whole jar everyday may be a little limiting of his dietary needs, lol, and I would check the sodium content. Just goes to show you should try LOTS with babies this age, you just never know what they will like!!!

But my biggest comment, is he does not look even close to starved  silly!!!!!!

Hooray for crack wieners!! That is too funny. I know what you mean though--I think they are so gross it's never crossed my mind to inflict them on my kids! Good job Grandma! The zoo pics are so adorable. What a beautiful family you have!

Great pictures! Looks like you guys had a nice trip to the zoo. I have no idea about the meat sticks from gerber. I haven't bought them (because like you I thought they looked gross!), but if he's eating than I think thats a great step in the right direction!!! Pizza crust and meat sticks.. maybe he only likes to eat things he can hold and chew?!

What a beautiful family you have! Great pics! Congrats on finding yet another thing that Caleb actually enjoys eating! I haven't tried those things with the girls, but if I had a picky baby like you, I might have tried them by now. :) Does he eat stuff with a mesh feeder at all (another thing he can hold)? I would still try to get a lot of fruit and veggies in him, too. :)

    Gorgeous family!!!

I don't think meat sticks in a jar is any different/worse than pureed meat in a jar, you know? Baby food in general is pretty gross, LOL. If you want, you could get some organic hot dogs from Whole Foods or something, and try those, cut into tiny pieces....although, I've always found the casing to be tough to eat, so I used to PEEL them for my DD when she was a toddler (seriously).

It's all a process...I promise he'll eventually start eating more variety! Meantime, no harm in lots of baby weiners....(things you never thought you'd type)....

My boys love the Gerber meat sticks too. I've found it's one of the only ways I can really get them to eat meat. I've tried little chunks of ham and pieces of boiled chicken and turkey but they always end up taking a few bites and then gagging. But they really gobble the meat sticks up... I guess it's a texture thing. I just wish they weren't soooo messy! My boys end up with meat sticks smushed into their eyebrows and up their noses. Oh well! I say go with whatever works! Yay for Caleb for trying new things!
