Sorry if this is TMI, but how long did you guys bleed for? My girls are 12 weeks and I'm still bleeding.
It's not to heavy any more- some days not at all and then I'll start bleeding again. is this too long?

Gosh, I wish I could remember exactly for you. All I can remember is that I bled for longer then I was told I would. I am sorry I am not much help.

I only bled for a few weeks (maybe 3). I think you should call your doc, but I bet it's on the longer side of normal.

Hi. I also bleed for quite a bit longer than was told. I bleed for about 6 weeks. I too would slow down sometimes even stop for a short time (i.e. 1/2 day - 1 day) only to start up again. I think it may have something to do with how big your babies were at birth and how active you are. I even had stopped bleeding for a couple weeks and then thought I had a period but that (regular menstration) has yet to return (my boys are almost 6 months). I also would recommend a call to your Doc (or his office - a nurse could probably even help out). There are cases where retained pieces of placenta or infection can cause you to bleed excessively or prolonged.

I bled longer as well, but that was with a single baby. Maybe it is more with twins? I think I bled for about 6 weeks total (it seemed like forever..) I did let my OB know though.

I bled for 6 weeks and then 2 weeks later got my first period. 25 days later another and it has continued since.

12 weeks seems a little long to me. I would call and be sure!

I bled for about 12 weeks too. I was on a blood thinner however, the OB says that didn't have anything to do with the length of time, sometimes it just lasts that long.

But always worth a call to set your mind at ease!

With the twins it was 5 weeks and with my singleton it was 3 at the most. Everyone is different, but it does seem like a long time. I would also call and just check with the doc.

I bled fairly heavily for about 2 months, then like a light period for another 2.5 months. I thought I was never going to stop... eventually it does. My doctor told me it was totally normal.

I bled like that with my first baby. On the days I would start back up again, I realized I was overdoing it, and once I rested more, I stopped.

I bled for about 12 weeks, it seemed like it was never going to stop. My ob said that everyone is different....my friend who had a c-section (although it was a singleton) only bled for 3 days!

Please call the doctor. It could totally be normal, but there is a chance you have an infection or retained parts. That is what I had and I started hemoraghing one day and had to rush in and get an emergency D&C. It was very scary. But I also had a fever.
