For those of you who had a c-section, did you pack night gowns, or sleeping pants and a t-shirt? Usually I wear pants and t-shirts, because I don't like my legs showing, and I hate night gowns, but I need to know what would be better with the c-section incision. I am going shopping tonight for my hospital bag. Thanks ladies.

I did pants and t-shirts and it was just fine. I just made sure they were higher waist sweat pants so it wouldn't bother my incision. Im not much of the night gown type, plus I had to go down to the NICU every couple of hours and I didn't want to galavant around in a nightie if you KWIM.

you know - i just wore the hospital gowns and didn't pack anything for myself. For my ride home, I wore maternity pants and a shirt. I brought a robe to wear over my hospital gown. but that's just me.

I wore the hospital gown the whole time. If your planning on nursing it is easy to wear the gown as you can leave it unsnapped and breasfeed easier. I packed stretchy pants and a tank top to wear home (nealry same outfit that I wore home from my first c-section) but I was much bigger this time so I had to send my aunt to walmart to get me bigger clothes. Also I was hot in the hospital and (think its from the meds) so a gown was easy to pull up off my legs when I was hot. Good luck- get your toes done cause its what everyone going to see.

I wore the hospital gowns too. I figured it was laundry that I didn't have to do once I got home, and the gowns were really comfortable. It was also easy for the nurses to check my incision, and I didn't have to worry about anything rubbing on my scar.

Hospital gowns!! Do not bring your own!! They get bloody and gross and you can use theirs!! I spent money on my own and it was a WASTE. You're a MESS anyway and you do not care what you're wearing.. Trust me! As long as you aren't ruining your stuff- it's better! Plus, you don't have to lug home dirty laundry!

I was there forever on bedrest and I wore long maternity tops and stretchy pants. I wore their gowns sometimes, but with pants underneath.

I wore both...I was in there 5 days... I wore my nursing gowns. I also wore my 2 pc pj sets....the incision is so far down that the pants didn't rub it. I didn't like the hospital gowns that my hospital had...it exposed everything....there was nothing discreet about BF'ing in them!

Good luck...I'd say if you have it, pack it...check out what they have to offer you in there.

I'm in the hospital now for monitoring and I'm hanging out in their gown with another hosp. gown on backwards as a robe to cover my butt! After my other c/s type surgery I didn't want to wear pants. The waist band was okay but the seam up the front bothered me.

Men's PJ pants! They have that snap front that opens huge so they could check me!
Target Nursing tanks. I wore the hospital gown as a robe to go on walks and to the nursery.
    Don't forget the flipflops!

I used 2 hospital gowns at the same time, too. I wore drawstring sweatpants the day I went home. I also found that tank tops with the bra shelf built in were a lot easier than nursing bras during the night feedings.

With my first c-section and this one I got oversized t-shirts and sweat type sleeping pants from target (i made sure they were very stretchy and bought them two sizes bigger) . I got cheap ones so it didn’t’ mater if they got destroyed. I wore the hospital gown three out of the four days with my first DS but this time I only wore the gown the first day. I am so not a night gown person and being able to wear my own clothes helped out a lot. I did have one pair end up getting nasty but they cleaned no problem and like I said I didn’t spend much on them so no big deal if they hadn’t.

Thanks everyone for your post. I went to target and bought two gowns on clearance, and one pair of pj pants, and one nursing tank! I'll probably wear the hospital gown the first day or two.... who knows exactly, but I bought those items to go in my bag just in case :) :) Thanks for your replies.

I packed them as well, but wore the hospitals the whole time too.

I too had one packed but just wore the hospital gowns. I was a big ninny during recovery and the prospect of getting totally dressed was way too daunting. But I did wear a maternity tee and maternity velour pants to come home, and ended up living in those (I have three pair) for the first month or so!

I would definitely recommend bringing a long robe also. It was so easy to throw over the hospital gown for walks to the nursery.
