hi. so i'm 22 weeks and found out today that baby b is moving! he is now crosswise above baby a instead of feet down next to baby a. of course he is still getting kicked in the face by his brother but he's realized that he can protect himself by covering his face with his hands (seriously, he's like that at every u/s)!

i also found out that i no longer have marginal previa! still have a low-lying placenta but it's moving away from my cervix so all is well.

anyway, my question is this. my doctor brought up planning a c-section date for me at my last visit and today the office called me with a date. it's my due date. my 40 week due date. isn't that a bit bizarre? i mean who with twins goes to 40 weeks! what's the point of this c-section date? any thoughts?

    thanks!

i went 39 weeks. as you get further along they do non stress tests and monitor the babies. if you start to go into labor then they just get you in and do the c-section. mine was scheduled for 6/2/07 my due date was the 12th. well i was at the hospital 6/1 at 4am going into labor. don't worry you will be fine and they usually just schedule it for insurance purposes if it needs to be pushed up that's fine.

yeah - i know they'll do one whenever it needs to be done it just seems so pointless to have one for 40 weeks. but insurance demands makes sense

Hmmm. Could be a mistake. I needed to schedule an u/s and they tried to give me a date 2 weeks after my c/s was scheduled. I had to point out that the u/s would no longer be needed by that time! They managed to squeeze me in.
We scheduled my c/s for 38 weeks and that's when it happened. My babies both turned head down at 34 weeks so a vag delivery might have been an option. I went in 2 days before the c/s and I was not dilated AT ALL so who knows how long I would have gone, maybe to 40 weeks. But I ended up with pre-e and those babies needed to come out ASAP. The dr said it would probably be a rough delivery if we tried to induce so we went ahead with the c/s. All three of us did well so I can't complain.
    Good luck!

:good: This was true for me too. My c/s was planned for 39 weeks. I think it's great that your doctor is being very positive about all this and not telling you that you will deliver early. No one knows when that will happen. We had 2 NST's a week starting at 32 weeks.

    Good luck!! :)

My doctor called last week and my c/section is happen for me when I am 37 weeks 3day. My DD was born at 38 weeks on the dot and was 9lbs 8ozs. My doctor is guessing the twins will be between 7 and 8 lbs does that sound right???

My ob is happy to let me go to 40 weeks (as long as there is no indication otherwise) and go for the natural vaginal birth. Is there any reason that your doc is discussing a c-section so early on?

My doc also had every intention of letting me go 40 weeks if they babies were healthy and not showing any signs of distress. Around 37 weeks one started measuring larger than the other and she was worried he was getting all the nutrients so she scheduled me for a c/s at 38 weeks. I wish I could have gone a little longer and gottent their weights up a big more but they are healthy so I can't complain. We only had a c/s when we discovered Baby A had turned breach around 35 weeks.

I went 39 weeks 4 days. The office I delievered in said as long as it was past 38 weeks they'd schedule it.
