C-Section question for those that had full term singletons

I know I am having a C-Section with this baby and it got me thinking about a few things I don't remember with the twins.

So I am laying there after the C-Section, getting my staples, and I fall asleep. I am not sure if they gave me something or what. Anyways, I guess I was put in recovery for a couple hours (I don't remember that at all) until the babies were done being looked at in the NICU. The only thing I remember is hearing the staples and waking up when they wheeled me through the NICU to see the babies in my bed. I didn't know that a hour or more had gone by at that point.

So my question is: For those of you that had a C-Section, did you fall asleep like I did?

If the baby is full term and doesn't need to spend time in the NICU, does it go to recovery with you?

I just have no idea what to expect this time around since it will be a little different with a singleton.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I can answer how it was when I gave birth to my twins. I did not fall asleep on the table. I was brought to recovery and dh went with the babies to get them all cleaned up. They were born at 38 weeks and required no NICU time. They came with us when I got my room. As soon as they were cleaned up, they were brought into recovery where they stayed with us until a room was ready for me.
I would ask for stitches vs staples if I were you!

For my daughter, I was not stapled. We the OB and I talked about it before we went in, he did the dermabond type stuff for a cleaner incision, with dissolving stitches on the inside. Lilly went to the Nursery for things with Daddy while I went to recovery. Different hospitals have different policies on babies in recovery, so call the hospital and find out what the policy is. I got my daughter 3 hours later when they got me to a room, had a shift change and the got around to it <_< . I'm still abit bitter about that!

Talk with your doc about your incision options and the hospital about the policies and proceedures, this may differ from what your doc thinks they do!

No, I didn't fall asleep after my c/s with Jax. I was awake the whole time and he went with me to recovery. He went to the Nursery once I was ready to go to my room, and I think they brought him back to me about 2 hours later. That part gets fuzzy, because once I was in my room I did sleep. Oh, and I had staples, too. I'm gonna ask about having sutures this time.

I had my twins c/s at 37 weeks. They were with me the whole time. I did not fall asleep while they stitched me up (no staples). The nurses cleaned the twins up and placed them in my arms then wheeled me to recovery. Once in recovery, they bathed them both, with DH's help and I got to nurse them right away. They again gave them to me as they took me to mother/baby. I thought it was great that we got to bond with them as much as possible in those first few hours.

I hope you get what you want too!!!

My experience with Peyton's birth was pretty similar.
