    Hi,

I can't believe we've made it to almost 38 weeks, I'm so relieved and grateful. I'm also really nervous about the C. I have so many friends who had very smooth C sections but I'm such a worrier thinking of all the potential challenges. And of course the worries about the babies being okay....It's all been keeping me up at night this last week and I'm sure Sunday night will be rough. If you have any words of wisdom, I'd love to hear them :) Thanks everyone for your support. I can't believe I'll be posting my birth story next week!

No words of wisdom, I've never been through a birth yet. But I just wanted to say Congratulations for making it so far, and I can't wait to hear your birth story next week. I am sure your C-section will be smooth, and I am sure both babies will be healthy. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I am sure your a nervous wreck ;) but keep your head up, your almost done, and you will have those two lil' ones in your arms soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So exciting!!!

Good luck… I will be thinking of you… maybe you’ll go in labor sooner and you won’t have any more sleepless nights and you will be holding your babies…

I will keep my eyes open for your birth story…

Oh and my c-section was so easy… and recovery was totally manageable I didn’t even take Tylenol… so just think of that when someone has a different story… you may be lucky like me in that department (I sure wasn’t lucky in any other department)

Congrats on making it that far! I too worried about my C-section for days and days before, but after it is all said and done- it was easy! I would do it again in a heartbeat. Honestly. the IV was the worst part- and I mean that! The recovery is painful, but nothing you won't be able to handle. Take meds on time and get up as soon as you can. I am amazed that just six days later I am feeling so much better and moving around doing regular household chores in MODERATION. You will do great!

I was in your boat.. nervous about the c-section, but ready to meet the babies! Afterwards, make sure to take your pain meds on a schedule! That was a big mistake of mine! Take it easy. I think I may have changed one diaper the entire time I was there! :) Walk as much as you can!! I can't wait to hear your birth story!

It will be great and you will have babies on Monday - I am so excited for you!

The only thing that was not so good and happened to me was that I had a little reaction to the spinal and I got pretty shakey for a little bit - but just ask the nurse for a warm blanket and it will be over in no time. I guess it happens fairly often - but wasn't that big of a deal.

Walk when you can, and enjoy your babies!

That is so exciting, you are almost done. The hardest part is over. I have never had a c/s but I just wanted to send my encouragement and prayers. I am sure you will do great and you are in more than capable hands. Good luck and I can't wait to read your story.

I will be nervous about a c-section if I have to have one too. I think it is the fear of the unknown! My sister had a c-section and she always says I am crazy when I say I'd rather labor all day, tear, etc. Yep, I really believe it is fear of the unknown. I will be thinking of and praying for you and your little ones. God Bless, Lisa

Congrats on getting this far! I was almost 38wks when I had my c/s. I was very nervous as well, but the procedure itself was completely painless. Just try to keep calm and hum a song in your head or something while they are prepping you. That's what I did to keep myself from overthinking what was happening. I think every woman has a different experience with recovery . I've heard of some that are really easy, mine however was pretty tough, and I attribute a lot of that to not getting any sleep the night before. So get as much sleep as you possibly can beforehand, and then afterwards take it easy and let people help you those first couple days in the hospital. I'm sure you'll do great! Good luck with everything!

C-sections kick a**!!! You get to stay in the hospital longer, you get great drugs and don't have to worry about trauma to the v-jay! LIke pp said, get up as soon as they will let you - it's rough, but the sooner you get up, the better you feel. WTG on making it to 38 weeks! That's awesome. BTW, if they give you a choice between an epidural and a spinal, take the epidural. It wears off faster and you don't have to lay flat on your back for 12 hours. Good luck and enjoy your new babies!

FYI- You might not have to lay flat on your back for 12 hours. Ask your OB. I had a spinal and was sitting up in bed in the recovery room within minutes of the surgery. I was also sitting up in bed all evening with visitors in the post partum room. I had no issues and the spinal wore off in about 6 hours. I was even up walking later that night. :)

Thank you everyone for your thoughts...

They are planning to do a spinal, but I don't exactly understand why they prefer that over an epidural for a planned C. I was told within two hours I should be able to move or at least wiggle some of my body. I think they said I'd be up walking the next morning.

I appreciate the advice to take my pain meds and walk as ASAP. Thank you.

I'm a little worried too about how strange it will feel to be totally paralyzed from the chest down--my mom said it felt like she couldn't breathe when she had it, even though of course she was breathing. Did any of you have that problem? I'm hoping things have changed since her last spinal 25 years ago!

I too was worried about that and asked my Dr. She said it does happen on occasion, but they can give meds to help with that if that is the case. I had no trouble at all. It felt numb from about below the breasts to my toes. You really won't notice you can't feel anything as your mind will be on other things. The only time it was "wierd" was when I tried to move and realized I couldn't. Otherwise just pretend you are just laying still and you won't freak out.

    FYI
When I had my son (spinal) they wouldn’t let me sit up for 12 hours BUT I had a spinal w/ my Cerclage, by the time my legs would work they had me walking to the bathroom… and I had no spinal headache or anything like that :unknw: …

This was my first c/s too. My other deliveries were perfect vag births so the c/s was a little harder. The spinal was no big deal, seemed easier and quicker than the epidurals I had with my other sons. The c/s in itself was fine too, I just felt a lot of moving stuff around in there, but it didn't hurt at all. Afterward, my plan was to just take Tylenol or Motrin, but the minute the spinal started to wear off. . . . it was like "OH I see." The morphine was great. After that wore off, I thought okay, now just motrin. . . but it just wasn't enough for me. I have a high pain tolerance, but really needed something else so I did and it was fine. Also - I was going back and forth to the NICU so maybe that made it a little worse. I guess my advice is just to stay on top of the pain meds and it will help tremendously!

i had a c/s and it was great! i also had a spinal, and that went great, too. well, actually, i had an epidural first, because i was trying to push, but then when we decided to do the c/s, they flushed out the epidural and re-stuck me with teh spinal. i felt like i couldn't breathe, and it IS a little freaky, but just remind yourself that it's normal to feel that, and you ARE breathing, so just RELAX! my c-section was in teh evening. my spinal wore off within the hour, adn the next morning they had me up and walking around. it was tough at first, and the nurses will help you in the shower (at this point, nothing should embarrass you! lol) , and by the time they discharge you, you feel so much better! and just so you know, i'm the BIGGEST baby, i have a low pain tolerance, and i was shaking and in a cold sweat for days before my scheduled induction. and it ended up all being a breeze! so go get some sleep! and good luck!

Like PP have said take your meds on time dont let them wear off, walk as soon as you can and take any help you can get!!!!!

Congrats on making it 38 weeks :bow2: , thats fabulous!! Wishing lots of luck and cant wait to hear your birthstory and see some pictures!!

I just wanted to wish you well! It will all be over soon...stay on top of meds and walk when you can, but take it easy w/ any lifting or chores when you get home. If you are like me, it's tough to stay still, BUT you will have YOUR babies to hold to keep you on your seat. Can't wait to see your little ones!
    :)
