My babies were born 2 weeks ago tomorrow and my insicion
seems to have a bad odor - sorry I know that's gross but it does
I asked my doctor and they say that is normal?! YUK!!
it looks ok - it does have one little open place that the doctor said
was ok also - did anyone else have this problem?? I do have a jelly belly that hangs over it a bit (double YUK!!)

The odor sounds like an infection may be brewing....call the doc ASAP! [IMG]

Odor can be infection, I would still see my doc.

It could be an infection, or a skin yeast infection. Sorry, this is gross but....I was told to make sure twice a day it was REALLY dry because I have the yucky over hang too. They suggested I use a blowdryer to get it dry in a hurry, and it worked quite well. To make sure a few times a day to lie down, and "air it out" by lifting the skin up. I also put some gauze or a pad in there to get any excess moisture early on. Good Luck with the doctor!!

I would call your doctor!!! Odor is not normal and it usually means an infection, as the pp wrote.

I had the same issue, i asked my doctor she said i wasn't drying it well enough, the whole process grossed me out, but i washed really well and made sure to dry it, and everytime i went to the bathroom i "aired" it out, I know GROSS!!! I actually followed the same things that the pp (Andyra) did. It worked pretty well.

Yep, I had the same problem. I had the little open spot that wouldn't heal, too. Once I started drying it really well it eventually healed up. Stupid overhang.
My little open spot was an area that the staple must have come loose because it didn't line up quite right there. The scar tissue is a little thicker there now, but all is well. I agree that you should have the doc take a look because I did not have any odor. That def. sounds like the start of an infection.

Same here that is a stank that I will never forget [IMG] My Dr. said it was normal [IMG] But I had a hard time believing that. I had the same problem I don't know if a staple came out he stapled me wrong or if it was where the drain tube was but I had a spot that didn't want to heal right it looked a bit over lapped also but seems ok like others said just a little thicker tissue there.

The only advice I have is...I washed it 2 or 3 times a day (cause I couldn't stand the smell) and put gause on the insision, my overlapping belly helped it to stay put [IMG] [IMG]

You can use a very clean washcloth to wick the moisture away. Just lay it against your incision, let the skin flop where it may and pull your undies over the whole mess. But definitely call your doc or go in to be seen, you don't want an infection!

I had a portion of my incision that oozed for a couple of weeks. It started in the hospital and was told by the nurses that it was normal. They suggested I put a pantyliner over the spot and that helped keep it dry and asorbed the ooze. I finally ended up putting triple antibiotic cream on it and it healed up in a few days.

    I had a similar issue.

What I did is dry it real well (with a hair dryer) after the shower, then use corn starch powder and place a folded piece of gauze between my skin flap and the incision-- which held the gauze in place.

    It helped keep it dry.

    goof luck
