I am 4 months pp, and my c section incision is numb, hurts and itches. It's bad enough that my belly looks like a train wreck and my abdominal wall is shot - but I don't want discomfort on top of it. Should I go to my ob or is this "normal?"

I can't imagine ever having a second c section and reopening this thing. Ouch!

    Hi,

My girls are 8 months and my scare still kills me. Sometimes it gets so bad that I cry and the doctor said that it might be like that forever.

Mine still hurts sometimes and my girls are 10 months old, today [IMG] Anyways, mine also still feels numb at times and itches sometimes, too. It just kinda comes and goes...it doesn't bother me at all somedays, and somedays I don't like wearing jeans b/c they irritate it so much.

Give it another couple of months. At that stage, mine was still really numb and itchy. Also, it was the perfect height so that when I was dressing/undressing babies on the kitchen table during bathtime and they kicked me on the incision it would HURT like crazy. They would kick me all the time and wouldn't understand me when I said "Stop kicking me in the belly, it hurts!"

Mine doesn't hurt anymore but it does still itch and is a little numb.

Mine has never been really painful, but it has been numb and it still occasionally itches. However, when I scratch the itch, it feels funny due to the numbness. The only time I really ever think about it is when I am holding one of the girls and she kicks me or stands up in my lap and is on the scar. Otherwise, the occasional itch is all I have to deal with.

My last c-section was over 11 years ago, but I think the pain stopped after a few months. The numbness, however, is still there.

I am also 4.5 months pp and my incision still get sore sometimes (usually when it rains). It also itches sometimes...I think that is from scar tissue.

My first c-section was over 16 yrs ago...that incision was numb and itchy til the second, about 3.5 yrs ago. After that the numb itchies seemed to go away as it healed thoroughly (about 6-8 months.) This time it's only been just over 3 months and there is only slight numbness that remains...occassionally when I get a swift kick or bend just wrong I get pangs of pain, but not usually.

With my first boy it was like this for a year. With these guys (my 2nd c-section) all I have is a little numb feeling.

I must be the oddball here... my incision site has never hurt, been itchy or numb beyond the first week.

I am 11 mos pp and it still feels crazy. Just a couple of days ago it was so sore on one side of it. Any time I flexed my stomach muscles it would be soooo sore. The thing I hate is I have an itch and I go to scratch it and can't feel it. So its like having an itch and not being able to scratch it. Oh I hate it but also when I go to scratch it it hurts my incision. I can't touch it because I still can't stand to look at it, to put lotion on, so I have my dh come in when I get out of the shower to put his lotion that is good for scars on it and I am pulling away the whole time because it feels weird and almost like it hurts but at the same time numb. I hate it!! I hope it gets better as time goes.

I'm over a year pp now and my incision is still numb and the area gets really itchy sometimes. The numbness was over a much larger area earlier and has slowly been subsiding. I was numb above my belly button and now have feeling below it. It does sometimes seem to get inflamed also and hurt. I did crunches for the first time pp last week and I was about to die the next day it hurt so badly-felt fine at the time!

I guess it's normal! That SUCKS. Sorry for my language, but that's the only way I can describe it. I get that itchy feeling, then when I scratch it, it feels funny because it's numb. You'd think they'd warn you about these things before you decide to have a c section ... Not that I would have ever tried to go vag given my situation, but these are things you want to know beforehand. At least my vag and perineal area is intact (lol).

is this your first c section, if so the itching and numbness is normal. Mine used to shoot pains thru my whole body. You have to keep in mind that the nerves in that area were cut, so they are refiring trying to find each other. I had none of this with my second section. I would call, just to be sure, but I am sure it is nothing at all!
