Quick questions. Are Breathable bumbers worth it and what is the best place to get one? Also, I am having trouble with the sheets that came with my set. It seems every time I wash them they get smaller and harder to fit on. I just ripped one the other day. Is it better to get name brand sheets like carters? Any suggestions thanks!

We just used the regular bumpers and had no issue with them at all. We just took them off when we converted their cribs to day beds about 3 months ago. As for sheets I have the Carters and the BRU brand and both seem to work fine. :pardon: Sorry you ripped one. That stinks.

I just put the breathable ones on a week or so ago. They are getting more mobile in thier cribs and were gettings limbs caught. They also tend to fall asleep right up against the sides so I feel better with the breatable ones. As for sheets I bought some from target and walmart. They seem to fit fine after several washes.

We always used the regular bumpers ... but I know a lot of people that like the breathable ones ... We kept the bumpers on until they started standing in the crib ... then we pulled them off ... and I wish I had done it sooner ... WOW was it easier to change the sheets with no bumpers!

As for sheets, we used the ones that came with our bedding set, and they fit fine ... we also have some extras that are koala baby brand I think ... but we did get some that kept shrinking and I ripped a few of those! I think it depends on the brand!

With the breathable bumpers you need to make sure that they will work with your cribs. Our cribs have solid sides and I had to wind the bumpers around quite a few times in order to get them to work since I couldn't put them around the sides.

As for the sheets, I just got a ton of the cotton sheets from walmart or BRU, Target or Ross, depending on where they're on sale. I've only had one set shrink on me and those are the ones that aren't cotton but fuzzy type of sheets.

We have normal bumpers but my girls aren't standing up in the crib yet. I have a few sheets from Target... I think the brand is Dell or something like that - so far, so good, no shrinkage.

We used the regular bumpers that came with our bedding set until around 9 months. The bumpers made it so difficult to change the sheets though, so I switched to the breathable bumpers and really liked them. I bought ours at BRU. As far as sheets go, yes the one that came with my bedding set shrunk and I also ripped mine. I bought some solid color ones at BRU (I think they are Koala baby) and have not had problems with them.

we use regular bumpers that came with their sets. i just recently put them on their cribs because they sleep so weird and were hitting their heads against them during the night and screaming bloody murder. once we put the padded ones up it cleared that problem. they never bury their faces in them.

the sheets from target are great. i think they are circo brand. they inexpensive and haven't shrunk. i haven't had a problem with any of their sheets shrinking because i wash them on delicate and dry them on delicate with low heat.

We use the breathable bumpers which we got from Walmart (online) - they are bright pink and look super cute! (we got the bright pink polka dot crib sheets from PBK and they coordinate fantastically). We used the breathable bumpers also with my son who is 2 1/3 and still has them in his crib! (although we expect to transition to a toddler bed sometime soon - the crib is so much easier for now!)

    Breathable bumpers:

We found they look cute, help keep their arms and legs inside the crib, help obscure the view of the door when we check on them and are not a hazard for suffocation or climbing.

With my son we started with padded bumpers but much much much prefer the breathable ones!!

I have some carters sheetes for the crib mattresses, and they've been great, just enough stretch, no ripping, etc.

As for the breathable bumpers, I knew I wanted them even before I delivered, and they've really come in handy now that the boys are flipping over and roaming all over their cribs. Every night I find them smooshed up against a side of the crib, and feel better knowing that they can still breathe if their faces are smooshed right up against them. Up until they were moving, we had the bumpers up on 3 sides of the crib. We put the 4th side up once they were roaming and getting various limbs sticking through them and freaking them out in their sleep ;-)

I had no luck with either Target brand or Babies R' Us brand sheets. As a matter of fact, my husband got so mad one time because they wouldn't fit, he just ripped them off, literally ripped them! It was hilarious. They were already tearing, anyway.

We LOVE and fully recommend the Pottery Barn Kids Sheets. They aren't that expensive, especially if you get them on sale. They are wonderful. They fit perfectly. They wash well--over and over and over. My husband is a bargain shopper and he is now on the PBKids train for sheets, saying those are the only ones I'm allowed to buy! Fine with me!

Seriously, try them. As for bumpers. We don't use them at night. I put them on during the day because they are so cute and they are in there during nap time--only because I constantly check on them, but at night, they are rolled up on the floor.

I use a regular bumper too.

The scare for them is from WAY back when they used to overstuff them regular ones, or fill them with down, when they were too thick to breathe through. The ones that came in my set are very thin and you can breathe through them just fine in case they do get stuck up against it.

As for sheets, I've used from walmart, target, babiesrus for all 4 kids and never had a problem with ripping.
