My girls just turned 3 months last week and I was thinking of getting those Bumbo seats but wanted to know it they are worth getting. Both my girls have great neck control. Thanks

We had 2 that were gifts and I used them quite a bit. But they were useful to me for such a short period of time, because they were able to get out of them fairly early) that I'm not sure I would spend the money if they hadn't been gifts. Maybe check out Craigslist for used ones?

i only bought 1 bumbo and let them take turns, but i also bought something like a bumbo seat that was surrounded with a circle-shaped table of toys and gadgets to occupy them. they were both awesome cuz it kept them contained (more so that one with the toys) and entertained while i could do something else for a little bit.

We used them at my parents house to feed them instead of highchairs. We liked them!

We also use them as highchairs and I love it because they are so easy to take anywhere. If you were just going to buy them for a chair then I would say it probable isn't worth the money. My son's wont stay sitting in them for anything else but to eat. Hope this was a little helpful

Thanks everyone. I think if I do decide to get them i'm going to look on craigslist. We already have the space saver kind of highchairs so i don't need them for that. My mom kept mentioning them to me so that's why i asked. She watches the girls while i'm at work and used the seats in the daycare she used to work at. She likes them and wanted to get them for the girls. Thanks again for your replies.

I've used the bumbo with a baby I was babysitting and I loved it! I've already got 2 for my babies when they get big enough. He never got out of it and it was very helpful when i needed to go start a load of laundry or make lunch. He liked it.

I just got a couple off Craigslist for $10 each. Neither of them like their bouncy seat or the swing so I was taking a chance getting them the Bumbo. They seem to like it okay for 10-15 minutes at a time, then they start to get antsy. It is convenient though when I have to switch out laundry or do something that requires two hands.

We borrowed one from a friend, figuring if it was really great, we'd buy another one. We never did. It was sort of useful as one more place to stick a baby for a few minutes, but neither of my kids seemed to like it for more than 5 minutes at a stretch. At 3 months, they got tired too easily and started to fuss -- and by the time they had really good head and trunk control, they were also wanting to move around and reach things, and they got frustrated by being trapped in the bumbo. And Sarah's thighs got too big for it by about 6 months anyway. We had much better luck with bouncy seats.

They make better bumbos now because you can get those little trays, so at least you can put toys in front of them, but you'd still have the problem that the toys get thrown off and the baby can't reach them. What they really need is a bumbo with some kind of narrow railing so that you could use plastic links to attach toys to it. (Hmmm...)

We bought 1 and they both loved them, i think they really encouraged them to sit unsupported. One of my girls still uses it sometimes.

We borrowed two from friends and have used them a fair amount of time. I would never pay full price but I would have to say they've been useful..mostly to put them down in for a little bit. They don't stay in their for an extended period of time.

We love our bumbos and could not live without them! We use them in place of highchairs until we can afford to get the ones we want. We bought one with a giftcard and the other on craigslist for $20. I would have paid full price for them though...they are excellent in my book. I say go for it!

We have one that is a hand me down from my sister and I may get a second one if I happen to find one at a resale somewhere. I doubt I'd pay full price for a new one since you only use them for a few months. We haven't started using it too much, but I think we will as we get going with the rice cereal. They have high chairs but they are a little small for those yet.

We had one and they both hated them. So, not worth it for us. I did, however, get $25 bucks for it at a MoMs sale. :woo:

We had one for our last baby and she loved it. We also had a rubbermaid tote (small size) that served as a toy box and she started rifling through that (as it was next to her) at a very young age looking for her toys to play with. We also have the tray. We bought a second used one for our twins. We paid full price for our first one and it was worth every penney as we used it up until recently.

The benefit I had with them was when I brought one baby to the car, I put the other baby in the bumbo so they would not crawl around the house while I was putting the one in the car. Then taking them out of the car, I brought a baby inside and they waited in the bumbo until the other baby was taken out of the car.

I know we used them quite a bit when they were younger... I put them up at some point and recently pulled them out at 15 months... they love sitting in them right now again!

also, $40 each is expensive! hopefully you can find them on Craigslist... they are so easy to sanitize.

Ours were great- and we used them to feed them- UP until a certain point.

that was when one of the babies around 7-8 months old started thrashing in the chair WHILE my spouse was feeding him, and he toppled over and hit his head, chair and all, even with an adult present, unable to catch him in time.

They are great up until babies gain a certain amount of strength. Then, IMO they are not safe.

If you can, I would get them used. Not worth the amount of money for the time window you can really use them safely. And really, really watch your babies for strength.

And I would never leave a child unattended in these, even for a second...

I didn't want to buy a high chair so I used the bumbo to feed my DD in until she was about 8 months old and then I bought a booster seat and straped it to one of our dining room chairs. I regisitered for another one and two trays for these babies because I still don't want to deal with having a high chair. Our dining room doesn't have that much room. My DD liked using it to play too. I would sit her under her Rainforest mat and she would hit the toys and touch the lights.

we had a bumbo with izzy and we LOVED it!! unfortunately, we sold it just before we got pregnant with the twins! we'll be getting 2 new ones (or gently used ones from the consignment store here in town) we used it for EVERYTHING it was GREAT

  22. I did not buy the actual bumbo..I bought the Wal-Mart verison for $10 bucks a piece found the on sale, and when I started using the my girls actually started sittin up on there on and seem to really like them I would recommend trying to find a Wal-Mart verison because they don't seem as high up as the actual bumbo.

Thanks again everyone. A friend of mine is going to let me use hers to see if the girls like it. If they do (which i think they will) I'm going to 1st wait till the moms of multiples exchange sale I'm going to go to and if i don't find them there i'll look on craigs list. Thank you for all your comments and suggestions. They all really helped in my decision

Ditto to others - I wouldn't pay full price for one (we got ours as a gift) but $10-15 on craigslist is probably worth it. And besides you could probably sell it for close to the same when you are done with them.
