I've seen the Bumbo Seaters--with and without trays--at Babies 'R Us and Target. I've thought about getting them for my twins to sit and play with toys on the trays. Does anyone use them and like them or are there better alternatives? Also, is 3 mos. too young to buy them? Thanks:)

Also, Baby Einstein dvds---is 3 mos. too young??

We borrowed one from a friend, and our boys didn't like it that much; so we never invested in a second. I didn't put them in it until they were 4 mo or so; and by then, they were much more fond of the exersaucer. It did help us extend the useful life of our playmats (with the dangling toys) because they liked sitting up with the toys dangling in front of them for longer than they would tolerate laying on their backs.

I know other people's babies have loved them, though; and some folks use them for baths. If you can, you might borrow or just buy one to see if they like it; and then you can decide if it's something you want two of.

I don't know much about these but I have seen them at Once Upon A Child for between $15-20, which is way cheaper than what they are at Target.

    Hey!
We mostly used them was when they were mobile and I went to put one in the car. I always had a bumbo by the door and as I took one out, I put the other in the bumbo so they could not go anywhere.

There were a handful of times (barely though- not enough to have had two of them I dont think) when they would go in there and they looked at books.

My boys watched Baby Einstein movies at that age.

my girls are 18 months and we still occasionally use them. they know how to get out of them now, but they still work. I keep a set at my sisters house, and the girls will eat lunch in them, or watch tv. We liked, but I think it just depends on the kid.

I used mine occasionally, to get their head off the floor. At 5 months Chris started kicking when in it though so I just sold his. Still use Lisa's, and I think they're good for learning to sit/head control.

About the DVDs... I'm totally against putting babies in front of the TV, heck even children until they're 4 or 5.

They weren't out yet when the twins were babies but I loved it for my singleton. He would sit up and watch his sisters and it was good for those first feedings.

With the Baby Einsteins, we waited until the kids could crawl before putting them on so that they could "escape" if they didn't want to watch it. :)

We got them. The boys liked them ok. We have already given one away to a friend who is preggers and will do the same with the other next week. If you get them try to find them on Craigs List, you should be able to get them for a lot cheaper there.

We like them but I don't ever have all 3 in a bumbo at the same time. We also have the BebePod Plus (3 of them but don't like them like the bumbos). The bumbos seem to hold the babies better than the BebePods. You can get them on Craigslist for about 1/2 of what they are in the store. I got my 2 from friends.

Mine don't like them very much. They get bored very quickly. My ds does not have head control mastered yet and dd likes to try and roll over. I have been thinking of getting rid of them and getting the exersaucers or jumperoos instead. As far as the Baby Einsteins go, the pedi says no tv yet. They do get peeks of what we are watching but never put infront of the tv to watch. He says it is not good for them.

eta: their legs get stuck also. I have been having trouble getting them in and out and getting comfortable with their legs in the spaces.

The idea of them sounded good so we got one (freaking expensive) and we hardly really used it. The babies were just fine playing on the floor on their tummies. For some it's a great investment, for us it was just one more thing that collected dust after a few uses.

We use the bumbo b/c it is good for their noggins. (They both had plagiocephaly, but have rounded out nicely.) We only have one BTW.

All my kids have watched tv from infancy anf are FINE. My 10 yo is actually in all enrichment classes at her school. I say go for it! :)

Mine loved them at 4 months. I would sit them in it and give them a toy to play with and they would "help" me in the kitchen. Now at 6 months they like to sit in them in front of their kick and play and use their hand to activate it rather then their feet.

My girls like baby neptune and old macdonald from the baby einstein series

We LOVE ours....we have used them daily since they were about 3 months old. We play, eat and just hang out in them

I second the suggestion on getting them second hand on Craigslist.

We like ours, I like it because the girls can sit up (which they can't do on their own yet) and look around. I also use them sometimes to feed them baby food. The only problem is that sometimes they like to lean back and get out! But we like them. Here there are in them.

I LOVED our bumbos!!!! They were great for starting solids! I loved being able to plop them in there and put on a baby einstein.. and start cleaning.

I dont think 3 months is too young for a baby einstein.. as long as its not on all day long. and i do think that 3 months is a little too young for the bumbo

Sorry but wasn't TV for babies proved to increase ADHD? No offense, but I've seen lots of people say that it's fine to put their babies to sleep on their tummy because after all, theirs were fine, and just today I learned about someone who lost their 2 month old nephew to SIDS because he was put on his tummy. Same deal. Just because you make uneducated choices for your family doesn't mean that everyone else should too.

I had the same issue w/ the flat head and we used the bumbo and the head is rounding out nicely! My two also have watched Sprout and Baby Einstien for the past two months. The love it.

We really liked the baby bumbos for feeding solids when the girls were too small for the highchairs. We kept them at my parents house and used them until recently - with the trays.

Also, I put on the Baby Einsten DVDs when my girls were 3 months, they've got nice music. I say everything in moderation and I see nothing wrong with having a Baby Einstein on in the background!

Love the bumbos, but since you'll likely use them for only a couple of months, I'd get them used. Craigslist!

I didn't read all the responses, so I'm sorry if I repeat...

We have gotten so much use out of the Bumbo! We only bought one, and when they were around 3 months old, I let them sit in and play with the toy attachment (on the tray) for a few minutes. But now I use it mostly as a seat in the grocery buggy. I put DS in the buggy seat (he hates being in the buggy) and I put DD in the big part in the Bumbo. She loves it!

My girls loved rolling around on the floor not sitting in the bumbos. They haven't got much use at all. Love the Mozart from Baby Einstein.
