So, much to my chagrin, we've been eating a lot of fast food lately thanks to not having an oven for almost 2 weeks while moving (and just the moving process alone - everything being chaotic). Through those many trips down the drive thru lane, I learned that my boys love to dump out juice boxes (a la McDonalds). So, this morning, in a rush, I decided to grab some hash browns for them at McD's. They started screaming for "juice!!!" the rest of the convo went like this:

Me: If you want juice, you need to drink it nicely. Are you going to drink it nicely?
    Jack: (exaggerated nodding) YES!
Me: Okay - so, that means no dumping or spilling. Are you going to dump your juice?
Jack: (enthusiastic twinkle in his eyes, VERY exaggerated nodding) YES, Mommy! YES!!!
Me: I don't want you to dump your juice, though. You won't get juice again if you dump it this time. So, you are going to drink nicely, with no dumping, right?
Jack: (enthusiasm gone, shaking head with dismay) nope.
Me: So, you're going to drink some and then dump it?
    Jack: YESSSSSS!!!!!!

I got the juice, and reminded him he needed to drink it and give it to me when he was done drinking. He drank quite a bit of it before proceeding to dump it all over his clothes. I just found it hysterical that he had no concept of lying or manipulating when I was asking him about dumping the juice. I guess if I got him the juice anyway that wasn't the most brilliant move on my part, but I had an hour-long car ride followed by a 2-hour doctor's appt ahead of me. I needed a happy kid. Anyway, just thought this was funny!

Yep, at least he was honest!! :) My kids just got real underwear for their 4th birthday and Clayton didn't want to wear his pants to go get his hair cut!

    OMG! I love it!

Mine are exactly the same way, and I'm glad we're not alone. Lately, mine love to suck up a mouthful of water from their sippies and then spit it out. They'll make huge puddles this way and get their clothes, furniture, etc wet. They know it's against the rules, and that I take their cup away when they do it. So now, this is how it goes:

    I take the cup away.
kid: "Want the sippy cup!" (moaning and whining)
me: "To drink, or to spit out?"
    kid: "Spit it out!"

    Um.....WRONG ANSWER!

Yes, the girls always tell on themselves...sneaking cookies, stealing toys, whatever.

    LOL!

DH and I have a running joke, because he's the kind of guy that will try to explain something that is waaaay above the kids' comprehension. So, I'm forever saying, "Are you trying to reason with the 2-year-olds again?"

I'm not nearly brave enough to give juice boxes in the car, but if I were to, this is how the conversation would go:

Me: Drink your juice, please. No playing. NO SQUEEZE. NO SPILL.

    Kevan: Uh-oh.

    Karina: Keban, NO SPILL! Uh-OH!

    Kevan: Uh-oh. Uh-oh.

Karina: Uh-oh. Keban wet. Mess. MESS!

Kevan: (happily plays in spilled juice)

Karina: Uh-oh. Karina wet. Juice. Mess!

Mine aren't verbal enough for brutal honesty yet...but we've got plenty of tattling. :D

Oh, and how's this: just this morning, Ivy gave a long description of a temper tantrum.

What happened: Andrew went downstairs and got in his chair for breakfast. Ivy stayed at the top screaming and crying and wouldn't come down on her own. I offered her a deal: come down 4 steps by herself and I'd carry her the rest of the way.

A bit later, Ivy said, very cheerfully, "Ivy was at the top of the stairs and Ivy was crying and crying and crying and Ivy would not come down the stairs and Mommy was not carrying Ivy down the stairs and then we eated a waffle for breakfast!" She sounded so happy about the whole thing.

That's funny (and you're brave for still getting the juice box...mine have never had one).

Just yesterday I ran into the other room to grab something, only to come back to a hysterical Conner. Aiden was all content & happy. Since I couldn't get Conner to stop crying & tell me what happened, I tried Aiden.

    Me: Aiden, what happened?
    Aiden: Conner owwie head.
Me: How did Conner get an owwie head?
    Aiden: I hit.
    Me: You hit Conner?
    Aiden: Yep.
Me: Why did you hit Conner?
    Aiden: (shrugs shoulder)
    Me: Tell Conner sorry.
Aiden: Sorry, Conner. Sorry I hit you head cup.
Me: Wait, you hit him in the head with your cup?
    Aiden: Yep.
    Me: Why?
Aiden: (stares at me---why ask why to a 2 yr old?)

    etc etc

This happened about 20 mins after Aiden disappeared & was super quiet, so I yelled "Aiden, what are you doing?" and he responded "POOPING!".

I'm loving the honesty now, because it won't last long!!!
