Brushing 4 month olds tongues/mouths...

The boys had their 4 month old well baby visit complete with shots today...
Our pedi gave us a rundown of what he'd like us to start (rice cereal & baby food) with the boys...when my husband asked how to maintain their little mouths the pedi suggested we use a baby toothbrush and hydrogen peroxide! I completely trust this man so far; but I have never in all my years heard of this...he said something about it being not far off from being water, it wouldn't hurt them a bit, and the bubbling will help remove the formula tongue!
I just wondered if anyone else had heard of this?

 

I have heard od adults brushing with HP or a combo of HP & baking soda - but not at 4 month old...I don't think it would hurt them though :unknw:

 

I haven't heard of it with babies, but I did have a dentist who recommended rinsing with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide & water once. Evidently it is ok to use in the mouth. Who knew?

 

i have bleeding gum problems and my dentist has me use peroxide every night, it is just water with an extra oxygen molecule, i have never heard it used for babies but don;t see why it woukd be harmful.

 

Hydrogen Peroxide is a natrually generated biological toxin, as we all make it as a by product of metabolism we also have the enzyme to break it into water and oxygen (perioxidase or catalase), a small amount should be safe but I wouldn't drink it!

 

Wow. I've never heard of that. Our vet had us give our dog a shot glass of hydrogen peroxide once to induce vomiting. I thought that was a weird use. It didn't work, in case you're wondering.

 

I am very sensitive to h. peroxide - it turns my skin white (I mean white white!) and it makes my skin STING very bad -
I would be hesitant to use it on a 4 month old. if you do I would dilute it w/ water.
