    Hey guys,
My ID boys both got their two bottom teeth at 4 months and Ped said they are working on their tops. This morning I noticed a HUGE swollen bumpy gum that is bruised- literally black and blue. It does not seem to be bothering him.. he's still chomping on everything RIGHT ON THE BRUISE (gag.) Anyway, has this happened to any of you guys??

My other one doesn't have this. I googled it and found that brusing can occur from teething due to a tooth hitting a blood vessel.. (ick.) I'm kind of afraid it's going to burst open and bleed all over.. Maybe I'm being crazy. Like I said, it's not bothering him at all. And, he did not hurt himself.. if he did-- he did not cry.

Thanks in advance for any info!!

I had noticed this on our little guy as well this past December, particularly when his top incisors were coming in. I asked my Dad (a dentist) and he said it was totally normal and not to worry...he says the gums are loaded w/ blood vessels and that the teeth form in little 'pockets' filled w/ fluids and blood which can become very irritated--but don't always cause discomfort.

    Isn't teething such great fun?!

Owie! I haven't seen it in my own kids, but I have had friends tell me about their kids having the bruising. That has got to hurt!
