    Hi All,

I am away on holiday with my husband and I had a strange discharge experience that alarmed me slightly but I am not sure if I should be worried. I have been reading alot about the mucus plug but it sounds like I am waaaay too early for that (I am only 16 weeks). Basically when I went to the bathroom, I noticed a slight brownish, almost textured discharge (kind of like the old blood after a period). It was accompanied by a little bit of slimy, mucusy discharge of similar color. There wasnt very much of it and I wiped it away a few times and it seems mostly gone but it did worry me a bit. I have not had any sorts of pains or cramping or anything along with the discharge. Has anyone experienced this at this stage and would you worry.

    Thanks

    Sparkle

ps. I am using an Italian keyboard and I cant find the question mark. ;)

I experienced brown discharge with a little mucous but was it the very beginning of the pregnancy. Of course your gonna worry but my sister actually bled (red) throughout her pregnancy and my nephew is 6yrs old. If it were me and I had no cramping and its not red, I wouldn"t really worry, but would still call my dr just for a piece of mind because I always need reassurance.

I know it's hard not to worry, but I agree with PP, if it's not bright red, it's probably okay...I would, however, give your doctor a call just to check.

I would call your Dr and see what he/she has to say about it. It very well may be nothing, but it is always better to be safe rather than sorry. Good Luck!

I phoned my doctor back home in London and he told me not to worry, that it all sounds normal. The first thing he asked was whether we had sex. I told him that we did the day before and he said that was more than likely the cause. Apparently the position of the cervix during pregnancy is such that this type of discharge can occassionally be knocked loose, particularly after sex. I am scheduled to see him next week and he says that he will be sure to check my cervix just in case at my next appt, unless of course I have any additional problems, in which case he would want me to come in.

    Thanks ladies
