    Hi Everyone!
The boys have outgrown our Graco infant carseats and DH and I are interested in one of the Britax carseats.

We went to BRU this weekend intending to buy the Marathons, but I guess there is a new recall on them!!! We ended up getting the Decathlons (more expensive...yikes). Since then, I've read some reviews that say the crotch strap on most of the Britax carseats aren't adjustable and are problematic. Any of you had this problem?

If you have a Britax, do you like it? What version do you have?

    Thanks for the help! :)

I am very happy with the Marathons. No negatives that I have noticed.

We have Marathons too. Mine were not recalled. I love them, long lasting, up to 65lbs, high top slots, great seats for bigger kids and/or having them harnassed longer. Well worth the money in my opinion.

The recall only involves a small number of seats and only the actual tether when used for a child 50lbs+, not the seat. Britax is known for very early recalls (and often voluntarily), not after harm is done, which I think is actually a great thing, which cannot be said for all other car seat manufacturers.

    ---

    Here's the recall information: http://marathonrecall.com/

The recall includes production of the Marathon child restraint from May 23, 2006 through July 28, 2006 and with a top tether lot number of KGR 01 A.

Under certain circumstances, if a child exceeds 50 pounds and the vehicle manufacturer allows use of the top tether above 50 pounds, upon vehicle impact, the top tether hook may open and have the potential to release from the tether anchor. In the event of a crash, the child may move forward further than allowed under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213. To date, no injuries have been reported or linked to this issue.

We went to the Roundabouts after the Snugrides, and we did have to get used to the crotch strap not being adjustable....but once we got used to the fact that it works a little differently than the Gracos, we like them and have had no problems. Actually I think it makes for a little more comfortable fit for the boys. The bottom part of the straps, rather than going around their waist and across their bellies like in the Graco, go over the top of their hips/thighs and snap in the crotch instead of on the belly. It's different, but I think it's probably more comfy for them not to have the buckle right on their bellies. There is still a buckle that goes across the chest like in the Graco. The boys are very comfy and virtually always fall asleep right away (not always a good thing, but obviously they're comfy in there!).

I like our marathons, but since we have small girls I kind of wish I had gotten the Roundabouts. That way I may have been able to have someone sit in our backseat between the girls.

The marathons are just kind of big.

GREAT advice, you guys! Thank you so much! I'm glad the crotch strap hasn't been an issue for you all!
Sofiesmom, thank you for the recall info...that is so helpful!
And Serranoboys, thank you for the compliment!

We have a Roundabout for DD, but plan on getting the 2007 Boulevards for Dtwins. Albeebaby is having a sale on them. I've purchased many items from albee, would highly recommend them. No tax or shipping if over $100.

I have the Decathlons for my girls and love them. Actually the crotch strap on the Decathlons has three different positions it can be in. I have had ours in the middle spot since the girls started using them at 9 months and have never had to move them.

We have the Marathons also and love them. They are so comfy for the girls. Ours were not involved in the recall either. I like the fact they can be used for so long without changing seats.
