Breastfeeding with a Stomach Virus?

I woke up at 2:30 am with a stomach virus. The stomach virus has been going around and it usually lasts about 24 hours. My question is, is it okay to continue to breastfeed while having the virus? My boys just got home from the NICU Sunday and I don't want to expose them anymore than what they have been. What should I do?

    Thanks!

YES!!! By breastfeeding you are passing on the antibodies your body is making to fight the virus! IF your kids get it, it shouldn't be as bad. Make sure to wash your hands and stay clean so passing on the virus is less likely!

Yes! Just stay hydrated. I had one over Christmas and it was awful. Unfortunately Elizabeth got it too :(

Yes, I just had it, the twins did not get it. I washed my hands constantly. I was so stressed I my supply would go down the tubes as I kept nothing down for 36 hours, but all is well.
    Feel better!!!

My boys were about 6 months old when I came down with a horrible one. In between trips to the bathroom, I nursed them. Neither of them got it!! BF during a virus (if you can manage it) is the best thing for your kids - you're passing on the antibodies you are making to fight it off. So you might be saving them from getting it.

Hope you feel better soon! Try to sip water, if you can, to stay hydrated.

Yes -- I asked the same thing last month, as I had some nasty virus, too. My little ones did not get it, thank goodness, even though I fed them EBM that I pumped while I was sick.

I had a pretty nasty virus several weeks ago. I continued to breastfeed, hoping the benefits were outweighing the risks of making them sick. They didn't catch it from me.
So I agree with the previous posts... feed your babies, and stay hydrated. I hope you feel better soon!
