I'm new to twinstuff and glad I found the site. I'm 35 weeks and 2 days and have been put on mild bedrest. Although it is boring and driving me a little crazy, I have found that I can cram the last couple books I wanted to read into these last weeks (if I can make it to 38) I have become a little nervous about breastfeeding but know that I want to give it a real shot. Any advice? all suggestions, breastfeeding or twin info in general is gladly accepted.

yes, BFing twins is possible! and you've found a great & knowledgeable group of ladies on this board who have all BTDT & will be a great support.

the things i wished i had known before my girls were born are that BFing can be HARD (with one, and even more so with two), it's physically AND emotionally draining, and that there's no "right" way to do it there's just the way that works for you & your LOs.

all that being said, it does get easier the longer you do it, it becomes physically and emotionally rewarding, and you'll look back & wish you hadn't stressed out so much about it. :)

if you haven't already, i would recommend reading Mothering Multiples - it's LLL's book on BFing twins. i didn't read it before the girls were born & wish i had. any other book on BFing would be good as well just for general info on the basics of how BFing works (supply & demand), some common problems you might run into (engorgement, plugged ducts, mastitis), and what to expect in terms of frequencey & duration of nursing sessions.

last but not least, after your LOs have arrived do no hesistate to come back here with any & all questions - if it wasn't for the ladies on this board, i would have given up on BFing, but they encouraged me, shared their wisdom, and helped me through the tough early weeks.

    HTH & GL!

HEY! Im EBF my two. After BF my other kids I can say that there are things about tandum nursing that's easier then single nursing. Youll learn as you go. I do love my e-z 2 nurse pillow. Wouldn't live without it. I can nurse the twins, brush hair, put on little ones shoes, just about anything really with that pillow. If you really want it you can do it! Good luck.

You can breastfeed your twins. I nursed my girls for almost 15 months. Maybe sure you check out the breastfeeding forum linked above. I think it was my best source of advice.

my girls are 26 months old and I still breastfeed both. I tried to offer formula when they were infants each of them has maybe taken 2 bottles in their lives NEITHER would take a bottle well so I just learned to breastfeed in public! I am trying to wean my 2 now but it is not going so well!

Yes, it is definitely possible! Many women do it! If you have an specific question, don't hesitate to ask in the breastfeeding forum (link in my sig). There is no silly/stupid questions! It takes a lot of suport, especially in the beginning!

BF twins is not only doable, but also wonderful.

Arm yourself with knowledge & determination. Surround yourself with support. Those are key.

Contact La Leche League if there is one in your area. Read Mothering Multiples & The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding.

It is possible, and wonderful, and also very difficult in the beginning. Each week is better and better, and each month just gets more rewarding. I remember when my LOs first held hands while nursing at about 4 months old, and now they are breaking away from the meal to coo and smile at each other. Time consuming, true, but what better way to spend 20 minutes than watching your babies learning to love each other?
    Best wishes!
